Today was the first day in a long time that we were all at home together, with no real obligations to speak of. Neither of us had to work. There weren't any birthday parties or church functions to schedule. Nothing had to be prepared or worked on. It was lovely. To start off the day, I performed a rather heroic rescue of Heather's our cat, Grey Kitty. When it rained a few days ago, our pump turned over in the cellar and there was about a foot of water standing down there. Grey got stuck in there at some point and had been without food or water for three days. Not to mention the howling that was emanating from the basement. I put on my rain boots and went in. She was thrilled to be out and ate LOTS of food this morning. We had powdered donuts for breakfast, cleaned house, painted and ...
Welcome back
Okay, so I know I said I was going to be a better blogger, but the night after that I worked until 9:30 and I'm wrapping up Christmas orders this week, not to mention trying to finish getting my own Christmas cards ordered and presents wrapped and under the tree! I wanted to share these pictures because they make me laugh so hard. I know that some of you are under the impression (wrong as it is) that I live with a very quiet, mild-mannered sort of man. Despite the fact that he puts on a good act, he is really silly and a LOT of fun. In case you didn't notice, he's been growing a beard since late September because he was Jesus/shepherd in our Christmas play this year. Thursday was the last night and he'd been telling me all week that he was coming straight home to shave it. Well, he ...
Sleep in Heavenly Peace
I am such a bad blogger-mommy. My life has been so busy over the last few weeks, so my blogging schedule is pretty non-existent! I promise to do better in the days and weeks to come. Sunday night (and last night) was our Christmas music at church and it was so funny to watch Ella's reaction. She was sad that her daddy wasn't sitting with us and I explained that he would be on stage. When the choir came out and he wasn't there, she looked at me and asked, "Where is my daddy?" I told her to keep watching. When he finally came on stage she got so excited and then freaked out when he left stage. She asked very loudly when he'd be coming back. The next time she spoke up, John (our pastor) was singing on stage dressed as Joseph. I explained that it was Joseph and she whispered, "That's not ...
A birthday, slumber party and a little mommy
{sorry that I cut you out, daddies. there are some better pictures of you on the camera, too. I just loved this close up} Today was a busy day, with lots to do, but we managed to cram it all in and have a great time doing it! I had to be at work at ten o'clock and made it home just in time to change clothes and follow Josh & Ella to Isabella's first birthday party. Unfortunately, Leeds mountain didn't agree with Ella's tummy and she wasn't in a great mood when we got there. There's nothing like sweet cousins, birthday cake and presents to cheer her up, though and she was happy in no time. Isabella was adorable in her birthday outfit and she & Ella were so sweet together and even shared bunnies. It was good to see lots of our friends and their precious babies. Here are a few of ...
Party time!
As much as I'd like to say my party went off without a hitch, knowing me, you would know I was telling a whopper! We had such a great time of fellowship with our friends and ate WAY TOO MUCH great food prepared by all of them. We had a group of 18, which is a lot of people in my tiny living room. And as much as Josh makes fun of me for the number of photographs I normally take in a day, we were just having too much fun to worry about it. I did snag a few to share, but they certainly don't show our great crowd or the immense fun we all had. Here are the retarded things I did that I wish had gone a little better... (nana, prepare yourself for fits of laughter). I made cornbread for the first time (for my dressing) and it turned out pretty good. I cooked it a little long and it didn't make ...
Does it get any better?
This is what I did last night: ate peanut butter fudge and perched behind my sewing machine. I made three cushions for my front porch and seven throw pillows! I also hung wreaths on the front porch and created a beautiful buffet display which I'll share later in the week (I'm hoping to post ALL of my holiday decorating pictures sometime soon). Below are the finished products from last nights hard work. Do you think I'm weird for sewing a slew of new pillows before a party? Oh and I have some good news - Daddy surprised us and came home today and Bunny has been found! I got an email from Susan who found bunny tucked in Haley's bedroom the morning after the Iron Bowl. I'm excited that we'll soon be reunited. And Kamin finally taught me how to turn my flash off, so you can see how ...
Missing
We are missing the bunny, not the child! We need to put out an APB on a small, brown bunny approximately 6 inches tall and quite shabby looking. Sad, but loved. Alas we have noticed two shabby bunnies (one and two) lying around the house and a quite pristine looking bunny (four) perched on a shelf. Where is bunny number three? If we ate turkey at your house or watched a ballgame at your house or visited your establishment in any other way over the last four days and you happen to notice a furry friend tucked in the cushions somewhere, could you please call? It is just as likely that Bunny #3 is in the pile of laundry in the living room floor, amidst un-played-with toys or underneath a seat in the family car. I'll let you know if she turns up. Until then, we'll be sharing bunnies around ...
Family Fun Day
As always, we celebrate Thanksgiving with Josh's parents the Sunday after and his mom is an excellent cook! Josh & I both had prior obligations for the afternoon that we couldn't miss out on, so we missed church this morning to go over a little earlier. His brother was picking our niece up at 11:30, so we got there just in time to spend the day with her! We don't get to see her as often as we'd like, so it was fun to see the girls playing so hard together. Ella talked about her all morning and was quite excited to see her arrive. Beth, Patrick & Alston {our honorary siblings and nephew} joined us for lunch, too! Ella & Bella were like little scavengers standing at Josh's chair and alternating bites of his Thanksgiving feast. It was so sweet. We tried fixing them both their own ...
