Being back at work this week means that I'm finally on some sort of regular schedule. I'm not claiming to be anywhere close to normal, but I'm trying to get up at the same time and go to bed at a reasonable hour and eat actual meals and read and blog and... you get the picture. Yesterday's return to work was surprisingly uneventful and I spent some much needed time snuggling Polly as soon as I walked in the door. Today's post isn't exactly on time, but it is published, so I'm going to call that a win. As always, head over to read Rachel's post today, because she reads more than two books a month and has ...

I asked you guys on Instagram a few weeks ago, if you preferred straightforward product reviews or if you liked having our favorite products integrated into lifestyle posts. It was really interesting to me that the response was pretty much split, but I got great feedback from so many mamas and the bottom line was -- you wanted to see what baby products we're loving. Today's featured product is one we received in exchange for review, but it's also one I can enthusiastically ...
Homecoming 2018
One of the things I love most about Ella is that she's insanely humble and unassuming. She's beautiful and talented and kind, but she doesn't always realize her own worth. A few weeks before Homecoming at her school, she mentioned that they were voting for Homecoming Class Representatives at school and talking about who she was thinking of voting for. I casually said something about her being the rep and the look on her face was hilarious. I don't think she had even considered that as an option, but she reminded me she was on the Railroad Safety Committee and that she would be riding in the parade with that group of students and that she had other responsibilities that would conflict with being the sixth grade rep. A week or so later, Polly and I were napping when I got a message from ...

One of the things I was most anxious about during this pregnancy, was where we would put the baby. For those of you who read regularly, you'll know we're in the lengthy process of buying my childhood home -- and eventually we'll be doing a remodel and the girls' rooms are first on the list. Until then, our third bedroom is filled with boxes and Josh's temporary office, while Ella and Sophie continue sharing the other room. In the beginning of my pregnancy, I insisted that ...

The girls were beside themselves when it was finally time to give Polly a real bath. Granted it was twelve days in (her umbilical stump was the most stubborn of all!), but they didn't think those sponge baths really counted. I had everything ready to go when the girls got home from school one afternoon and my mom did all of actual bathing, while I assisted and took photographs (obviously). Gran has given the first bath to all of her grandkids and my absolutely favorite part of that is the role of the big green bowl. This is the same bowl that my mom uses to make her famous Christmas Cookies, so it's ...

You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. one month as of October 5, 2018 It's incredibly hard to wrap my mind around the fact that she's one month old. Our days have been mostly the same, but it's been such a treasure spending this time at home with her. I'm admittedly not cut out to be a stay at home mom and I know that in the very near future, I'll be back at work and thriving, even while missing this girl like crazy. For that very reason, I have been intentionally slow over these last four weeks. I have welcomed every sleepless nap, smiled through every disgusting ...
Currently | October 2018
I'm not sure if your brain just eradicates all memories of childbirth, maternity leave, and sleepless nights or if it was just because it had been so long since we had an infant in our home, but I had extremely unrealistic expectations of how our first month at home together would go. I had an editorial calendar planned with three post ideas a week and it honestly never occurred to me that I wouldn't feel like / have time / want to blog at all. C-Section recovery isn't easy (I'm still getting there) and getting to know a new person who is all of the sudden a part of your family is hard work. If I hadn't been so excited about sharing our birth story and delivery photos with you guys a few weeks ago, this would probably be my first attempt at blogging post-Polly. She's a month old today ...
Polly’s Birth Story
Let's all laugh at the fact that I just knew I would be back to blogging the week after Polly's birth. I had post ideas for that entire week and it never occurred to me that I wouldn't feel well enough to sit at my computer, let alone that I wouldn't want to put her down for one single second. The last two weeks have been perfect and although I'm ready to return to this space, I am very much enjoying our quiet, lazy days and our posting schedule will likely be a little lighter than normal until I return to work. Thank you all so much for the prayers, well wishes, and patience -- Polly and I are both doing so well and appreciate your love and support! While none of the following photos are graphic in nature, there are real time photos of Polly's Cesarean delivery, so if you are ...
