This was the best part of our day. Seeing these girls snuggle in the mornings warms my heart. THIS, was the worst; having our ancient washing machine (note the harvest gold?) finally give up the ghost during our final load of laundry for the weekend. Then having the pleasure of ringing water out of the entire load and dipping 8 gallons of water out of the basin since it refuses to drain. It looks like I'll be doing a little appliance shopping this week. Anybody getting rid of a nice washer & dryer? ...
Saturday’s List
1. We worked in the yard. 2. Went to Hanna's and bought nineteen shrubs to plant out front. 3. Watched my hunky husband dig nineteen holes, with lots of toddler and canine assistance. 4. Bought a sprinkler to occupy the princess. 5. She called it a splishy-splash. 6. Yes, we coordinate footwear and hair accessories with the bathingsuit. Who doesn't? 7. We finally got them all in the ground. Don't they look great? They should grow to be 4-5 feet at maturity and give us a nice little privacy hedge between our yard and the street. 8. We went swimming to cool off and watched Beemer chase tennis balls in the water. 9. Grilled out hamburgers and made home fries at Kamin & Cory's. 10. Remembered why knife safety is so important (Yes, I'm typing with 9 ...
Art In Motion
Here is the artist at work. Notice the concentration, the composition, the attention to detail. It's becoming obvious that my sole purpose for attending art school was so that the supplies would be readily available when this prodigy came along. ...
Sleepy.
This is what happens when Ella spends the night with Gran & Poppy. Beemer misses her. ...
Let’s Get Crafty!
It's that time again, Show Us Where You Live Office Edition! Since technically our office is in the dining room, which you've already seen, I'm sharing my craft/play room. I would call it my office - it is where I get creative and fill all of my painting and design orders. There isn't a computer in this room, which is a little disappointing, but if we moved it here then I would have to share the space with a boy. I'll take a girly space any day of the week! I first blogged about the craft room here and although the furniture is pretty much the same, we've rearranged a little and added lots of accessories. This room is our former guest room future nursery (I hope), but for now Ella & I needed a place to get creative. I bought the two main pieces of furniture at a local ...
Keeping It Real
I know I've been saying this a lot lately, but I'm really sorry for the lack of posts. There might not even be anybody that cares, but I feel guilty anyway! Even though in some ways I'm getting used to having a traveling husband, parts of it seem a little harder these days. Ella is such a sweet girl and so well behaved. My job hasn't changed. The dog is a little higher maintenance, but nothing out of the ordinary. Suddenly, I'm a little overwhelmed with housework and house projects, bills are harder to pay, dishes are harder to wash and crafts are harder to accomplish. I want to share a picture with you and I don't want you to panic; it isn't always this way. This is what my dining room looks like right now. You know this isn't normally the way my house looks because I posted ...
What’s for Dinner?
Our block of gold (I mean Disney Photo CD) finally arrived this week, so I'm sharing two of our favorites. You might have seen similar photographs from our vacation, but these are the pricier "professional" photos! They have nothing to do with the remainder of this post, but my camera battery is finally charging and I really hate to post without photographs! On tap are a few before and after projects that I'm working on (but that might not be ready to share until early next week), Friday's home office post and a few posts about the outside of our house. Josh & I have declared this the year of the house! Remember all that talk about home remodel and refinance? Well, we've finally got a game plan together and hope to get started really soon. Like Saturday. First on the list is some ...
Two Ellas
On Saturday we had the pleasure of attending a birthday for one of my Ella's best friends. Her name is Ella, too and we lovingly refer to her as "Big Ella" since she's four months older and instead of calling my daughter Ella she calls her "Dean Fields." No confusion there. Her party was at Build-A-Bear, which we've never been to and boy was it fun. The kids got to pick out a bear, name it, give it a heart and stuffing, bathe it and dress it. Our bear's name is Peanut and she is wearing a cute polka dot bikini (unfortunately we left her at Garan's this afternoon, so there isn't a picture of the finished product). The photos below are my favorites from the day and there is a link at the bottom of the post for the entire album. I hope you don't mind that I'm not blogging on the ...
