Dear 2019, I wasn't ready for your arrival. I'm not ready for it to be the year after Polly was born -- that's moving a little too fast for my taste. The good news is, I'm a glutton for fresh starts and everything about you feels shiny and new. Dear Pollywog, You are growing up so fast! We just started using the bumbo seat and high chair in the last few weeks and it's a nice change of pace for us all. You still prefer being snuggled or worn in the sling, but the highchair is proving to be the easiest way to cook dinner. Dear Marie Kondo, I had no idea you had a new series on Netflix, but I managed to binge ...
The Best of 2018
I've been recapping our year in photos since the very beginning of this blog, but updated it a little last year to focus on the bests we shared in 2017. I was looking back through photos to include in this year's recap post and it, too, was filled with so many of the very best things. What do you say we make this sharing of the bests an annual gig? The Best of January January might have been the weirdest month of my life. After weeks of wondering what in the world was wrong with me, I broke down and took a pregnancy test on the ninth day of the month. I will never, as long as I live, forget the fluffy pink robe I was wearing or how hard my hands were shaking or how I abruptly woke up Josh and Scoop when I swung the bedroom door open. It's funny looking back, because so many of you ...
Coffee Talk | January 2019
Why don't we have two catch me up blog posts back to back? My plan had been to start sharing these at the end of each month, but I guess the first week works, too. I kept meaning to get my computer out over Christmas break, but every day that went by without screen time was a good one. The longer I went, the less I wanted to do anything productive. I'm planning to start recapping our holiday next week, along with our Disney World trip (finally), but I'm hoping to finish up this week with a photo recap of last year. If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that our holiday was magic. There were so many things that were different this year -- nobody in my house believes in Santa Claus, we added a baby to our celebrations, several holiday events were rearranged, and Josh had to ...
Currently | January 2019
Can we all agree that it's really weird to write or type 2019 today? It's my first day back at work after the holiday, I'm completely unorganized, and I haven't even bought a planner for this year. I'm really getting started on the right foot, right? In case you didn't see this photograph on Instagram yesterday, I wanted to try something different for this year's monthly marker. I loved watching the changes take place from our mailbox this year, as I documented the front of our home each month. I talked to Josh about other spots on our land that would be fun to document, but when I walked into our quiet living room yesterday morning, I knew this was the place. We're hoping to finally begin our home renovation this year and we have another tiny little person in our home and we're still ...
Christmas Things | Part One
I haven't taken as many photographs this holiday season as I wish, but now that I'm done working for the year (that feels so good to say!), I'm planning to over-document the remainder of Polly's first Christmas! In an attempt to catch up and share some of my favorite moments of December, so far, here's a photo filled post for your enjoyment. If you've been reading for more than a few Christmases, then you know that we make an annual date around the acquisition of our Christmas Tree. I've probably said this every year, but we always joke about the cars coming from "the city" to our hometown to cut down their Christmas tree on a farm, while we drive into town and buy ours out of a parking lot! We tried tree-cutting one year and the girls hated it and our tree died two weeks before ...

When Ella was born, I had no concept of how well she would sleep. I had never had to care for anyone other than myself and I wasn't prepared for how difficult operating on only a few hours might be. Fortunately, Josh is a much better middle of the night parent than I am and he helped keep me from coming apart at the seams while we figured this parenting gig out. By the time she was five weeks old, Ella was sleeping eleven hours a night and we were feeling pretty good about ...
Three Months with Polly

You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. three months as of December 5, 2018 I'm a little behind on sharing this monthly update, but guys -- December is rough. I didn't factor in how difficult all of the regular December-y things would be, with a baby in tow. Add to that a crazy schedule at work and lots of extra activities at school for the girls and we are all a little frazzled. I kid you not, I folded seven loads of laundry in my bedroom floor last night and I had to rock the baby in between every single one. I'm not complaining, but it takes me significantly longer than usual to complete a single task. I finally ordered the last of my ...
Eufy SpaceView Baby Monitor | A Newborn Must Have for 2019
I received product compliments of Eufy in order to facilitate this post — all opinions are my own. You can read more about our affiliate relationships and partnerships here. Polly has officially been a member of our family for fifteen weeks and I feel like I'm finally getting a handle on taking care of a newborn... again. So much has changed since the big girls were babies and trying to choose products that we thought we might need was more than a little overwhelming. I remember feeling like we had so much stuff with our first two and I promised myself we wouldn't do that this time around. Our initial purchases for baby were minimal and I really didn't even register for much aside from necessities. I've also had plenty of friends offer recommendations and we've read countless reviews ...
