Sorry for the poor photo quality, I was snapping too quickly to worry about camera settings! She's been grinning at us consistently for the last week or two and I finally managed to have my camera within arms reach. She gives much bigger ones than this - full on, gummy, smiley goodness. I'm still trying to catch one of those. ...
Crawfish Boil
This is a long one, folks. Last night, we were invited to our other mother's house for a crawfish boil. Her son Chris was in town and we were so excited to spend the evening outside enjoying their new pool in wonderful company. Ella thought we were having bugs for dinner and let everyone know that she was NOT having any of those. Obviously, Emma {Chris' youngest daughter}, didn't feel quite the same way! The kids were all perfectly self-sufficient, thanks to a last minute run to Dollar General for floaties and rings, so the mommies and daddies got to visit instead of play life-guard all night. These two were the lowest maintenance of all and hung out poolside for most of the evening. Sophie is 7 weeks old and Natalee is 12 weeks old. Aren't they cute? {Side note, isn't ...
Baby Burrito
Ella refused to sleep unless swaddled and Sophie is the same way. It looks like last night she managed to get a hand out, but she stays pretty snuggled up in her blanket. This one has velcro to keep her confined and I absolutely recommend it. It look like torture, but she loves it. Strap her arms down and she's out like a light! ...
Memorial Day
This might be the only picture I took yesterday, but at least it's a good one. Yesterday, we: slept late and had fruit loops for breakfast. packed three bags of towels, toys and food. spent about 8 hours at the pool, in the sun and rain. watched Sophie sleep the day away in her bouncy seat under an umbrella. had many noodle fights. ate a few too many hamburgers and drank way too many Dr. Peppers. finally got some sun on my cheeks. watched red, white and blue clad cheeks run around the pool all day. got stuck under the awning during a rainstorm. enjoyed wonderful conversation. Happy Memorial Day! ...
Girly Days
"This is a girly day, isn't it, momma?" That's what Ella said to me over our lunch date yesterday. When I agreed, she said, "Girly days are fun. I don't really like boy days." I'm not sure what boy days are, but I'm glad she was enjoying herself. SD has been pressuring me to get Ella's hair cut for some time. Can you believe she is almost four years old and has never had a haircut? At first, I was worried about cutting the curls off and them never coming back. Then, it just got so pretty and I couldn't imagine parting with any of it. Recently, it was well below her waist when wet and right at her waist when dry and curly. He was right... it was time. I tried making her an appointment the week before Sophie was born and she wouldn't go. She panicked, thought she might have short hair ...
Summer Days
We did again today and I'm happy to say this is the plan for the next five to six weeks. Sleepy mornings in pajamas and lazy afternoons by the pool. Ella did much better today. No screaming, just foot kicking, tip-toe walking goodness. I love summer. ...
Pool Days
This is how I spent most every summer day of my childhood. That is the best part of having a pool in your backyard. Even though we have to load up and drive a whopping three miles to get to Garan's, it is worth every moment of preparation. Ella was pretty scared and even a little mad at me for making her get in the water. She can touch the bottom of the shallow end this summer and I fully intend for her to be swimming by the end of the season. She did really good and I promised that we would try to spend every afternoon there after I picked her up from Heidi's. Sophie spent her afternoon in the shade, snuggling belly-down on the picnic table. Maybe when she has a little better head control and the water warms up a little, we'll let her take a turn. Until then, she's got it made ...
Fashion Girl, Revisited
This is what my fashion girl wore to school yesterday. The first dress she picked was a long-sleeved denim dress, so we compromised on this one. In addition, she had on Hello Kitty wellies, mardi gras beads and a Jonas Brothers lunchbox. How could I not take a picture? ...
