It is so hard to believe that August is here and that we're starting school and saying goodbye to lazy summer schedules. Even though I work full time, I'm much less relaxed about my office hours and it's nice to "pretend" that I'm on summer vacation, too. We're embracing alarm clocks and meal plans and homework this week, and none of us are ready! ordering | It's crazy, but I'm ordering birthday invitations and cookies and cakes this week. We'll be celebrating our littlest lady, one month from today, and we're in full party planning mode. watching | I just told Josh this week that we are living in the days of excellent television. We finally wrapped up season three of Stranger Things, I've been binging Friends with Ella, and we're almost caught up on Yellowstone. I'm woefully ...
Hello, Friday [August 2, 2019]
It's been twenty-two days since I posted here. TWENTY-TWO. I'll admit that having three kids is infinitely harder than having two. Sometimes I think our age gap makes it easier on us, but other times I think that's part of what makes it stressful. Parenting kids in vastly different stages of life will just suck it right out of you. On Instagram, a few weeks ago, I mentioned that I signed up for Orangetheory again -- I can't remember if I ever mentioned it here. I was planning to go back after the kids were in school, but Jennifer started back in July and I'm a total bandwagon-er, so here I am. I'm only going twice a week for now, but since Josh is dragging me out to the barn a few days a week, I'm still getting three to four workouts a week. Working out is hard, after a year off, ...
June Little Things
I knew it was going to be hard to get June's monthly video down to two or three minutes and I was right. In the beginning I had forty-seven minutes of clips, so it's impressive that I was able to whittle it down to only six! There are a handful of fun things before and after our vacation, but most of this month's videos were taken at the beach and I'm so glad I'll have these to look back on. I'm certainly not a talented videographer and I could probably stand to spend more time putting these together, but I am loving these simple looks back on the things we love most about each month. The girls laugh so hard when we watch these together and they are much more likely to participate when they realize their goofy songs or embarrassing raps are muted. We're gearing up for one last ...

It's been a really long time since I posted about reading. Pregnancy and postpartum life just didn't allow for that kind of brain space and now that I'm chasing a moving target, I'm not sure it's much better. I am getting better about using my time wisely, though, and that has meant reading a handful of chapters or listening to an audio book while I work or clean. I'm still not back to my pre-pregnancy volume, but I am starting to remember why I used to make time for this. It might be awhile before my monthly totals are anything to write home about, so in the mean time, I'm planning to write a quarterly post with my ...
Ten Months With Polly
When your 10 month birthday is the day after a national holiday, you pretty much have to dress up and post your photo a day early, right? I bought these constellation shoes for Josh for Father's Day last year, because we didn't know if Polly was a girl or boy and he had been obsessing over how cute these were. They came in pretty handy for July 4th and worked perfectly with our July bow from Little Poppy Co. and this ballet top from June and January. I didn't actually buy her a patriotic outfit of any sort this year, but I kind of love how this looked! ten months as of July 5, 2019 Height + Weight: We don't go back to the pediatrician until she's a year old, but I'm guessing not much has changed since last month. She's pretty close to twenty pounds and growing. Clothes: I look for ...
Currently | July 2019
This month's photograph cracks me up, because it's so similar -- and so different -- from last month. Polly has really stepped up her crawling game and I can barely snap a photograph before she completely leaves the frame! The girls and I were watching a movie on the couch and she had pulled all of her swimsuits from her dresser in the dining room (yes, her clothes are all downstairs) and was dragging them all over our house. reading | I started From Twinkle with Love, but haven't gotten past the first chapter. It's due back at the library on Friday, so unless a miracle happens, I'm not going to get to finish. Next in my stack is The Clockmaker's Daughter, so it looks like I'll be starting that one this week. enjoying | It's probably sad to admit, but I'm really enjoying all of ...
What’s Up Wednesday | June 2019
What We're Eating This Week | After two weeks of eating out for almost every single meal, it feels good to be back to meal planning and cooking at home. I spent a ridiculous amount at the grocery store on Sunday and our pantry is finally fully stocked. On this week's menu is spaghetti with meal sauce, pork chops with roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli, taco salad, and breakfast for dinner. We'll fill in the other nights with leftovers and takeout. What I'm Reminiscing About | Is it weird to be reminiscing about something that happened less than a week ago? I've been working on editing the photographs from our beach trip and I'm already so nostalgic about the whole thing. I didn't get as many pictures as usual, but that's to be expected with a baby in my arms. Instead, I have a camera ...
Polly’s Sixth Month Photo Session
I had big plans to have Polly photographed every three months of her first year, but we are far busier than I expected and that never happened. I did manage to invite my sister over on a Tuesday morning to snap a few photos of us before Polly's nap time and they totally make up for our lack of a three month session. These were taken about a week after she turned six months old and they perfectly capture what life was like for us then. A friend, who's also a local photographer and super mama and gives great breastfeeding advice, encouraged me to have my sister take some nursing photos for us. I'll keep most of those private, for obvious reasons, but these are a few of my favorites. She was right and I will forever me thankful that I have this little moment in time ...
