I'm thinking about doing my P365 posts a little different for the remainder of the year. I don't love to blog on the weekends and I have a hard time remembering to post them on Sundays (like I still need to go back and post last week's photos!) and it's hard to schedule them ahead of time since the photos aren't even complete until sometime on Saturday. I'm thinking a Monday weekly/weekend recap might be in order. 10/8: I made a quick run to Krispy Kreme before church on Sunday morning. Everyone thought it was a big deal that I drove twenty minutes in the opposite direction before church, but they are so much better when they're fresh! We had breakfast in Bible study and our oven was on the fritz. What's a girl to do? 10/9: Ella had her first official kindergarten field trip. They ...
Wednesday’s List
Instead of posting many meager, unimportant blog posts, I thought I'd just combine everything I wanted to say in a list. It's been awhile since I did that and I think it's high time! I cannot eat super healthy AND run at the same time. Can't do it. Running makes me hungry. Like, cross a nine-month pregnant woman with a growing boy and see what happens. I need carbs and sugar and all that stuff to keep my energy up. I don't want you to think I'm sitting around eating rice crispy treats and washing them down with DP all the time, because I'm not. I'm eating salads and lean meat and drinking plenty of water (especially on running days), but I need bread in my life right now. I registered for the Mercedes half-marathon yesterday. It set me back seventy bucks so there's no ...
Harvester
Please tell me y'all listen to Brandon Heath?! He is one of my favorite singer/songwriters and the fact that he happens to love Jesus a whole lot and sing about Him from time to time is just icing on the cake. I'm super excited because today his new album Blue Mountain is available to download and I have been waiting with bated breath. The tracks have been available to preview on his website for awhile now, but there is nothing like seeing it stream via iTunes when I'm running. Yay for new tunes! Anyhoo, this is my favorite song from the album and I wanted to share... just in case you needed something new to listen to, too. The words of the chorus gut me. For all that we've grown, how could we forget those who don't know or just don't know yet? Let's harvest this field from sunrise ...
Project 365: Week 40
9/30: I have a bit of an obsession with lip balm. I'm pretty sure I've discussed Baby Lips with you before, but I'm equally enamored with EOS. I have a couple more of these in different "flavors" and they are scattered around my life: bedside, makeup bag, purse, desk, car. You get the drift. 10/1: This is what the littles had for dinner on the first of the month: turkey, string cheese, tortilla strips, carrots, bananas and applesauce. They like to call this a "variety plate." 10/2: Bedtime at 9:31 is never a bad idea! 10/3: I splurged on fries at McDonald's and they were not good. Cold and undercooked is not how I eat my potatoes. Not cool. 10/4: Sophie was just about the cutest thing ever in the bathtub that night. All smiley and cooperative. Her hair is getting so long and I'm in ...
Roll Tide Anyway
Just because we don't have a game today, doesn't mean we can't say Roll Tide! ...
Art Party
We went to a pretty amazing art-themed birthday party on Saturday morning and my girls LOVED it. The birthday girl was precious in her paint pallette t-shirt and everyone loved making so many fun crafts to carry home. What a great idea! ...
Homecoming Week
Friday night was our small town homecoming. Since we live across the street from the high-school where we graduated, the week of festivities provides with several nights of family events to attend and the girls love it. We enjoy hanging out with our high-school friends (especially those we don't see as often) and watching our girls soak up the traditions we loved as children. On Tuesday night, we watched the junior varsity team secure their first win of the season. This was the first game we've managed to catch since our SD started helping Cory coach and the girls loved it! Of course we had to give him a yell from the sidelines and they affectionately refer to him on these nights as "Coach Daddy", which I love. What is better than staying up late on a school night to enjoy school spirit ...
Not a Narcissist
Sometimes I need to learn a lesson. Other times I need to be hit over the head with a book. I know last week that I mentioned Vicki Courtney spoke about not raising narcissists. I'll admit that I pretty much cringed the entire time she was speaking. Not because I disagreed or even that I didn't want to hear what she was saying, just because I felt like there might as well have been a spotlight aimed at my face. While my goal isn't to raise spoiled brats, sometimes I think I'm letting it happen by default. Why not let them have a lunchable if they doesn't want lasagna? They wants to wear skinny jeans every single day - why not? An iPod for a birthday gift... Ella's responsible enough. What I was failing to realize is that I'm raising them to think that the entire world revolves around ...
