I hate to admit it, but I'm a bit of a voyeur sometimes. I'm not snooping around in your medicine cabinet or anything, but I'd like to see the inside of your house and I'm curious about where you work. Does that make me weird? I was playing around with the panoramic function on my phone this week and thought these pictures of my office were pretty funny (and it's rarely this clean). Then, on the off-chance you're as weird as I am, I thought I'd share them and show you what I see every day. And just so you know, any paperwork that's in view has been more than sufficiently blurred or otherwise obscured to protect the innocent! 1. It's hard to see, but I have a burlap bulletin board across from my desk. I covered an old one I found in my closet and added some nailhead trim. It's perfect ...
Project 365: Week 46 // Weekend Update
11/11: Last Sunday our pastor shared this quote both in our Sunday School class and again in evening worship. How comforting are these words of Lewis Smedes'? I have been looking for several weeks for a cute Alabama sweatshirt, but they were either all ugly or $75. I just couldn't fathom spending that on a sweatshirt?!?! I found this one while we were in Ttown in the children's department. I wore it to church on Sunday night and it is officially my new favorite article of clothing. I also spent some time with my sister packing 20 boxes for Operation Christmas Child. I was also pretty excited when OCC/Samaritan's Purse "liked" my photo on Instagram. I'm a nerd. 11/12: This child is OBSESSED with all things Disney. We've been looking at photographs from when we took Ella and now that ...
Project 365: Week 45 // Last Week
11/4: We went to a super cute birthday picnic after church on Sunday. Meg did an outstanding job with the party and we had such a great time celebrating sweet Lucy. 11/5: I finally got a new phone (although I went with the 4s instead of the 5) and so Sophie inherited my ancient one. On Monday afternoon I finally managed to wipe it clean and install a few games for her. This is pretty much what she's looked like ever since. 11/6: Whether or not we agree with how the election turned out, it's still beyond important to me that we have an opportunity to voice our opinion. I was one of the first ten people to vote in my district on Tuesday morning. 11/7: I usually do my mid-length run on Wednesdays during my lunch hour. I was a little excited this day because I managed to shave 7 minutes off ...
Project 365: Week 44 // Week Before Last
The last week of October/first week of November was such a fun week, I'm not sure why I haven't posted about it yet. I have a boatload of images that I've been meaning to share, but life is seriously holding my computer hostage these days. For now, let's catch up on Project 365 and I promise lots of REAL posts this week. 10/28: I attempted a photoshoot before church on Sunday because I was in love with the dresses the girls were wearing. Sweater dresses are my favorite and when you add suede boots and blonde girls, I'm pretty much smitten. Ella's was a splurge at Mini Boden last month, but I got SK's on the sale rack at Gap for under $15. 10/29: Although we painted pumpkins on Sunday afternoon, I managed to share this picture on Monday, so we'll go with that. On the one hand I felt ...
Project 365: Week 43 // Weekend Recap
So this post should've gone up yesterday, but everything about Monday was a bust. My car wouldn't start, so I rode to Ella's program at school with Josh and assumed we'd get everything in working order when we got back. We had thirty minutes between her assembly and her lunch, so we flew home to jump my car off and so that Josh could get back to work. He got a teleconference call as we pulled into the drive and didn't get to worry with my car right away. I ended up driving his truck back to the elementary school and having lunch with my girl. When I got home he told me that he couldn't get it cranked, so I was stranded at home. Let me interject that I am sick as a dog and that I had a HUGE project at work due yesterday. I had planned to be in the office by noon and work late until it was ...
If you can’t say anything nice
I've been blogging for just over four years and written over one thousand posts. I've shared happy stories, sad stories, embarrassing moments and rants. I realize that I have some readers that I don't know, but for the most part here I'm talking to family and friends. I'm sharing the story of our life, both for people who relate to what it's like raising girls and for those two girls themselves. I can't wait to look back on these posts as a family and laugh about what we were up to when they were little. To talk about their challenges and struggles, to remember family traditions and even blush over embarrassing anecdotes. I don't know about you, but I love poring over yellowed photo albums and seeing pictures of great grandparents, naked babies and panties on my head. Hearing my parents ...
Monday’s Plan
When I left work yesterday, my plan for the evening sounded like this: Pick up the girls from Gran's. An early bath time. A little fall decorating (since we have done NONE at our house). Homework and prep for day two as "Leader of the Week" for Ella. Boil some chicken and make homemade chicken salad for dinner and lunches this week. Make pom-poms for Ella's Halloween costume. Fold a few loads of laundry. Read until bedtime. I should probably mention that Josh had an away game tonight, so the plan was centered around his absence in our home. Traffic wasn't too bad today and I got to my mom's about twenty minutes ahead of schedule. This bodes well for the evening's plans, right? Ella is so excited to tell me all about her first day as the leader, but seems a ...
Project 365: Week 42 // Weekend Recap
10/14: Enjoying Cracker Barrel for dinner after our terribly lazy Sunday. Sophie loves playing the peg game and SD & Ella worked all of the puzzles in the menu. 10/15: I didn't take a single picture, but we FINALLY got DirecTV installed and I'm happy to say The Walking Dead has been watched in this house. 10/16: I went into work a minute late so I could take the girls to school and one of the benefits was seeing this precious face. 10/17: My mid-week, long run -- five miles at 12 minutes or under on my lunch break. Thank goodness for locker room showers! 10/18: Josh has had this Pearl Jam song on the brain for the last few days and wouldn't stop singing/humming it. I finally broke down and listened to the whole album on my way home from work. Then I realized that it came out my ...
