Can we all agree that it’s really weird to write or type 2019 today? It’s my first day back at work after the holiday, I’m completely unorganized, and I haven’t even bought a planner for this year. I’m really getting started on the right foot, right? In case you didn’t see this photograph on Instagram yesterday, I wanted to try something different for this year’s monthly marker. I loved watching the changes take place from our mailbox this year, as I documented the front of our home each month. I talked to Josh about other spots on our land that would be fun to document, but when I walked into our quiet living room yesterday morning, I knew this was the place. We’re hoping to finally begin our home renovation this year and we have another tiny little person in our home and we’re still sharing spaces with my parents, so this view is (and will be) constantly changing. I’m so looking forward to documenting the heart of our home over the next twelve months.
choosing: I could have felt guilty about it, but we chose an abnormally slow and restful holiday this past year and it was worth it. We rarely left the house, I wore pajamas for ten straight days, and we’ve been living off of snacks and holiday food. There is plenty of time for errands and organization in the new year, but I’ll never get those quiet days at home with the girls again. Our Christmas decorations are still lingering and I haven’t blogged in weeks. Lazy holidays are the best.
tidying: As much as I enjoyed those lazy days, now that we’re all back at work (and school tomorrow) and on our regular routine, I’m ready to tidy allthethings. I worked on my Christmas decor some last week, but I’m vowing to be brutal when I pack the remainder of it up, later this month. Next year’s decorating process should be really smooth, since I’m eliminating all of the excess and packing my boxes a little more thoughtfully. Maybe that process will bleed over into a few other areas of my life.
resolving: I’m not really making resolutions this year, but I do have a few general goals in mind. I might share more about those later, but they are still solidifying in my head. 2018 was such a crazy year for us and I’m trying to think about ways to be more together and organized in 2019. I told Josh this was the year of adulting and I’m not sure I’m ready for that.
exploring: This prompt is really hard for me — I have no idea what I’m exploring at the moment. We’ve already planned a camping trip for Spring Break and our summer vacation will forever be a repeat of the year before and with a little one at home this year, I’m not sure we’ll be doing much traveling or exploring in this calendar year. That might sound boring, but I’m kind of looking forward to a year at home.
refreshing: I’m hoping to refresh the blog a little bit this year. After the realization that I was tired of blogging for the sake of affiliate links (that’s not really what I was doing, but I think you know what I mean) late last year and some time off over the holidays, I think I have a clearer vision of what I want this space to look like moving forward. I’m not sure I’ll do an actual design refresh, but I’m hoping to be a little easier on myself when it comes to scheduling posts and to share more about our everyday life. I’m still toying around with doing a blog survey sometime later this month, but I might just share a series of questions on Instagram Stories, to keep it simple. What do you want to see more of this year?
