February came in with a bang. I found out about some changes at work this week and I’m not sure how they will impact my position exactly, so I’m remaining optimistic and prayerful about our exciting new direction. After many months of working from home, I finally feel like I’ve established a real schedule for myself. Polly has been staying with my mom three days a week, which give me two full days to work from home and another day to be in the office. The remaining two days I try to juggle work projects and time with Polly Pocket, so it feels like I’m a stay-at-home mom for at least a few hours each week. I’m still working on a “block schedule” for my work days and I think that will leave me feeling more productive, but I’m already more organized and together than I’ve felt in many months.
loving | I know that winter isn’t everyone’s favorite. It’s not really even mine (I’m a summer girl at heart), but I do love being at home and cozy for a few months. We’ve had some pretty cool temperatures the last few weeks and Josh has kept a perpetual fire burning in our wood-burning stove. My office is at the top of the stairs, so the warm air is funneled right up to my feet.
reading | I’m on book four of the Red Queen series and it is so good! I’ve been reading a few series with Ella since right before the holidays and it has been such a fun thing for us to share. She’s one book behind me on this series and we’re planning to tackle Scythe next.
remembering | Remembering might not be the best word, but we’ve been talking about (remembering and reminiscing) how much we miss live music and hope we get to enjoy it again pretty soon. We watched a documentary about The Head and the Heart on Amazon Prime this past weekend and it was good for the soul. We talked about all of our favorite songs and favorite moments from past shows and at one point Josh said, “You’re going to cry, aren’t you?” Well, yes I am.
sharing | My plan is to start sharing here regularly again. I’m trying a new format, where I blog in real time and I think it’s going to be more sustainable and more enjoyable for me. I’m thinking about sharing our holiday posts and backdating them, so I’m not blogging about December in February, so maybe I’ll share links to the things I catch up on.
wishlisting | I’ve really been thinking about how I want to approach shopping and personal style this year. I didn’t buy much last year, because of COVID, but I certainly spent more on sweatpants and t-shirts than necessary. I’m working on a wish list, to keep myself on track and only purchase things that I’ve been actively looking for, rather than snagging things just because they’re a good deal. I bought a pair of secondhand Spanx leather leggings from my sister last month, but I avoided shopping for the most part. I’m contemplating a very expensive pair of sneakers and a few solid staple pieces this spring, but I’m also looking forward to spending and shopping less as a whole.
