It’s January. I’m sure that everyone is making a big deal about how they can’t believe it’s a new month, year, decade — so I’ll try not to focus too much on that, but how in the world did that happen so quickly? We have been soaking up every single second of our holiday vacation and it was the first time in months where we were all five at home together with nothing to do. We’ve worked puzzles, played outside, stuffed our faces, and binge watched all sorts of fun, family television. Maybe we could have been more productive, but it was nice to just be in the room with each other.
I haven’t settled on a theme for my monthly photos just yet, so the snapshot in this post could very well change before the end of the day. Any brilliant ideas for 2020? Well, I woke up this morning and looked around our house and couldn’t help but snap a picture from this same view. I’m just not ready to give it up yet — I love capturing the heart of home and seeing how this move and change. I may tire if it at some point in the future, but today is not that day.
resolving | I’m honestly not a huge fan of New Year’s resolutions, even though I could use a few in my own life. There are definitely a few things I want to work on, though: I’m aiming to continue my four days a week in the gym streak for the foreseeable future and Josh & I are committing to zero fast food or sodas in January (We start tomorrow, since we consider today a part of our “Christmas Holiday.”). Maybe I’ll just make a new goal each month and see how that works for me?
reading | Last year was the single worst reading year for me in a long time. I need to write more about that, because it was a conscious decision, but one I’m ready to move away from just a little. I read a few books over the holidays and I’m feeling more equipped to make reading a regular part of my day again.
cleaning | I am likely the worst person to discuss cleaning with you today. Our Christmas decorations are still in full effect and we have toys and games in every corner of our home, thanks to a last minute New Year’s celebration last night. Also wrong — I stayed up after all of our guests left and pulled our house back together in under thirty minutes. Maybe a quick reset is the new Spring cleaning?
creating | Creativity was another dry spot in my life last year, but I’m aiming to increase that, too. I’m hoping to open my shop up again for digital designs & house portraits and I’m considering another endeavor that will stretch my creative brain.
planning | You are probably going to roll your eyes at me when I tell you we are planning the first few parts of our home renovation this month. I don’t know why we’ve been dragging our feet, but we’re all about ready to explode with ideas and DIY projects. We’re hoping to get the upstairs painted over MLK weekend, which will mean carpet by the end of the month!
