December is already kicking my butt. Anybody else? Our calendars are full of sports and celebrations and deadlines and we are furiously trying to squeeze it all in, while still enjoying the heck out of the holiday. Polly is determined to tear our tree down and I’m determined to have a beautiful Christmas with a fifteen month old — are these two things mutually exclusive?!
I might not have blogged much this year, but I did manage to take a photo of our living room every single month. November’s was from a slightly different perspective, but I still loved capturing life in the center of our home. I can’t decide if I should do something different this year or pick another room of our house — any suggestions or things you’d love to see?
wrapping | Gifts are just starting to arrive — in fact, my office floor is currently covered in yesterday’s boxes — so I haven’t tackled wrapping just yet. In years past, I’ve bought all new, coordinated wrapping, but I’m feeling a little conflicted about that this year. I have a huge stash already and it feels wasteful and excessive to buy even more. I’m hoping to use only what we already have, with the addition of a few fun ribbons and baubles for the top.
baking | I’m not an avid baker, although I wish I was. We are starting the normal rotation of warm, weekend breakfasts, though. Pigs in a blanket, sausage balls, monkey bread — those are all favorites during the winter months.
lighting | We bought our tree on Friday (I’m hoping to get those photos on the blog tomorrow) and had it all decorated by the end of the day. I used my favorite garland lights from Dollar General and I noticed that a strand from last year is already fading. I’m hoping Josh will swap out some bulbs for me this weekend, but I might end up having to restring the lower half. Whomp whomp.
sending | I am actually sending Christmas cards this year!! Last year was the first time in our seventeen years of marriage that I skipped out. I had a twelve week old at home and was still struggling to survive. I meant to send New Years cards and then Valentine’s and it just never happened. We didn’t have time for family photos this year, so I’m doing a repeat of the photo grid and infographic that everyone loved a few years ago!
enjoying | How cliche is it to say I’m just enjoying every part of this season? It’s busy and I’m already overwhelmed, but it’s still my favorite month of the entire year.
