This was one of those perfect weekends, where our kids were angels and I checked almost everything off of my list. It’s been a long time since I felt this accomplished and self-satisfied, so I had to tell you about it, right?
FRIDAY | I didn’t feel great on Friday morning, but I went on to work and got as much done as I could in the early morning hours. It turns out I had a 24 hour bug and was back in bed by lunch. Polly took a long nap and gave her mama plenty of time to rest, but I didn’t really feel great until the next morning.
SATURDAY | Josh and the girls had planned to spend the day at his mom’s watching football, so I tried to think about all of the little, annoying things I never have time to finish. I made a mental list and as soon as I put Polly down for her morning nap, I started knocking things out. I completely rearranged the furniture in our living room and sunroom while she was sleeping. I swept, mopped, dusted, and cleaned windows. I threw tons of junk away and organized books and baby toys until almost lunch. We decided to turn our sunroom into another television space, since we don’t have TVs in the girls rooms.
Ella had a Halloween party to attend that night and dressed up as some internet category of girls that I don’t understand. Every time she tells me about VSCO girls or some other thing that teenagers are doing these days, I laugh, because they are basically turning into their middle school mothers. I dropped her off at the party, ran over to see Josh’s parents and watch the first half of the Alabama game, and then took Polly home for bath and bed time.
SUNDAY | Nobody was eager to get out of bed at six o’clock on Sunday, but we made it to church on time with on a little grumbling. Polly had to go into a new class and wasn’t exactly thrilled with the change, but I didn’t get called out of the service, so we’ll call it a win. We ran to Lowe’s after the service to pick out carpet for the girls’ rooms and it only took thirty minutes to come to a consensus. Praise God, we’ll have carpet for the new year!
Once we got Polly down for nap, Josh and I my dad hung my back porch swing, switched out a few more porch lights, and hung cafe strands in our back yard. My niece’s birthday party is at our house in a few more weeks, so we were hoping to get our porch cleaned up and beautiful before then. Ella is having cookout with some friends this weekend, so we’ll give this newly sparkly yard a test run on Saturday.
We finished up just in time to change into our costumes and hit up our favorite, local Trunk or Treat experience. I’ll share more of those photos on the blog tomorrow, but how cute are my Maleficent and Avocado?! We finished the evening with Mexican food, a few episodes of Survivor and plenty of Halloween candy!
How was your weekend?
