In case you missed it, I shared part one and part two of our summer vacation recap, earlier this week!
Towards the end of our trip, I realized I didn’t have any pictures of the girls inside our camper. I know that seems like such a small and silly thing, but I know we won’t have this same one forever and we all love it so much, so I want to be sure we capture our time in it accurately. The kids spent so many afternoons playing cards around our table and I can’t count the number of times we watched Aquamarine on DVD — ha!
This girl was so much fun to capture. She spent a fair amount of time playing and crawling around the floor, which is why we finally agreed that the carpet has to come out before next summer. Carpet and sand are not a fun combination!
These are some of my favorite photos from this trip. Polly was so funny, trying to see my face around the camera in her face.
With only two days left of our trip, we still had quite a few things to check off of our list. The girls always like to take at least one long bike ride and, naturally, we waited until the hottest day of our trip to make that happen.
We packed plenty of water and headed out for the afternoon, just praying we wouldn’t die of heat exhaustion. I was nervous about carting Polly in the bike trailer — and it was heavy! — but we made it much further that I expected.
We propped the camera up on a nearby railing and grabbed this family photo at our halfway point. It’s one of a few family photos we got during our trip and definitely my favorite.
Polly was so tired that she crashed right after we left the campground. Josh was so worried about how she was sitting, so we tried propping her up with a beach towel.
It wasn’t long before she was wide awake and waving at everyone on the bike trails.
One of our other favorite things to do, is to visit this old tree that was knocked over during Hurricane Ivan. It now grows sideways and makes the perfect climbing spot for the kiddos. We did a quick drive-by on our way to the pool for a night swim and ice cream cones before our trip came to an end.
There was hardly anybody at the pool when we got there, so it made for a perfect evening with our crew. Ice cream for dinner is always a big hit and we swam until the stars were out and made our way home in the dark.
We always pay for an extra night so we don’t have to worry about the check out time, so we made our way to the beach for a few hours on our very last day. The big girls played in the water, Josh read in the shade, and Polly and I hung out under an umbrella at the water’s edge.
None of us were ready for the trip to be over, but we were exhausted and ready to sleep in our own beds! We had a friend snap this (terrifying) family photo, when we realized we hadn’t taken one on the beach during our entire trip. I wouldn’t even share it if it wasn’t the only one, but THANK GOODNESS we got a better one in Pensacola a few weeks later.
I’m hoping to share a list of our favorite restaurants and places to visit, on the blog tomorrow, so be sure to pay us a visit!
