Why does the last week of school seem so long? I can’t decide if it’s the promise of Memorial Day and a long lazy summer or the monumental to-do list, but either way — I’m glad it’s over!
My parents officially opened the pool this week and the kids are so happy. Who am I kidding? I am so happy. We uncovered it a few weeks ago, but it was completely empty and we knew there was a leak that had to be dealt with. We’ve all be a little panic stricken over whether or not it would be ready to swim before Monday, but all is well in the shallow end these days. There were a few repairs, a new pump, this pretty blue liner, and fresh set of steps. Both of my big girls skipped out on the last day of school in favor of a full day of water fun.
I need to share some photographs on the blog or Instagram, but in case you missed our stories on Tuesday afternoon, Sophie got all of her hair cut off after school. She is so much like me, when it comes to change — she decided she wanted short hair for school next year, then thirty minutes later she insisted that we needed to get it cut today, so that she could sport it for the last day of school. Fortunately, Becca fit us in with a few days’ notice and we are loving how cute and spunky she looks!
After seeing it on my sister last week, I bought THE CUTEST romper at Walmart last night and I’m going to have to restrain myself from buying one in every color. Wouldn’t you know, I can’t find it on their website, so just trust me when I tell you that you need it. It’s by Time and Tru and is a soft sweater material, but seems so light and breathable for summer. It was $12 and comes in grey, navy, and olive green. I grabbed a medium and it’s perfectly drapey with just enough give to nurse in a pinch.
We are exactly two weeks away from our two week vacation and I am so ready. I wasn’t sure I could take that much time off, but my work projects will allow for it, so I’m excited to spend that much time soaking up my family. I ordered a few last minute items for the camper, but I’ll share those in next week’s Amazon Haul post. I also decided to touch up a few things in the camper before our trip, so I’m hoping she’s bright and shiny and beautiful by next weekend!
Today was Polly’s last day at Heidi’s and it’s a little weird to think she won’t grow up there, like the big kids did. My mom is officially retired and will be keeping the little girls next year. I know that Sophie will miss having her at school everyday (and I’ll miss her keeping me straight when it comes to dates and deadlines – ha!), but having Gran Camp all year sounds like so much fun. Can I come, too?
I’m in a meal time rut and need some help. I’ve done so good with our weekly grocery order and cooking more at home, but I am so tired of eating the same few things for dinner. If you’ve found a new recipe recently or have a family favorite, please leave me a link or comment below. We need a few easy things for summer that we can add to our rotation.
