It’s been sixteen days since the last time I posted and I miss this. Life has been more than a little hectic this month — my calendar looks absurd — and I feel like I’m just coming to the surface. I have so much to share over the next few weeks, but I thought a short post to say hello was in order. I mentioned in January that I wanted to share regular “coffee date” posts with you and I’ve randomly decided that we’ll do them on Friday. Not necessarily every Friday, but maybe so. It will be an easy way to document our daily lives without the stress and planning of a full blog post, although I’m hoping to share some of those, too.
There are plenty of links in today’s post, but none of them are affiliate links.
We bought a house on Wednesday and we didn’t even have to move! That was the biggest joke at the closing table, we got a few congratulations for getting to skip that step. I thought it might feel anticlimactic since we’ve been living here since the fall of 2016, but it was just as special and monumental as I had hoped. I’m probably going to share more about the whole process next week, but it bears mentioning today.
Of course, because I’m ridiculous, I had to buy a new key chain for my house keys. We’re likely having things re-keyed in the next few weeks (because: new sun room doors and new front door hardware), but it’s holding the same keys I had last week just fine.
I owe you a tidying up update, because I’m still killing it at being an adult. I’m not a budgeting guru by any stretch, but I feel in control of my finances for the first time in a decade and was thinking about sharing what’s been working for me. Is that something you would be interested in reading about?
Ella made the cheer squad back in March, but I haven’t really shared much about that here. She made captain of her team, so we’ve all been a little giddy about that. I know it’s probably in poor taste to brag about your children, but she’s one of those people that is naturally talented at everything and I had a sneaking suspicion she would do well at cheerleading, too. I ordered an obnoxious fangirl t-shirt to wear to all of her games and I can’t wait to share that with you when it arrives. Until then, I’m keeping my wit and humor to myself.
Sophie is really settling into this middle kid gig, but I’m trying so hard not to let her get lost in the shuffle. We’re going on a day date to Atlanta tomorrow and I can’t wait to shower her with attention. We have lunch plans and a spa date at the American Girl store and we’re leaving everyone else behind. She’s decided to pick up piano again this fall, so we’re all pretty excited about that. We’re moving the piano downstairs when we carpet the girls rooms and I’m hoping having it in a central location will encourage her to practice more. Also, I can’t wait to style the top of it like this.
And since I just sent you to Pinterest, I might as well tell you that I have a super fun board filled with all of our home inspiration pictures. When did they add board sections as an option? I spent last Friday night moving all of my pins around and it was so satisfying.
We picked out our kitchen appliances last week and have been debating what to do with the floors. We expect to have a propane tank installed in the next few weeks — HELLO, GAS HOT WATER AND RANGE TOP — and we’re toying around with having Josh pour us a concrete patio and fire pit after it’s installed. How much fun would a remote controlled fire pit be, just outside of my kitchen door?!
Thursday’s Instagram post got a ton of love and the comments and DMs are still rolling in. I just realized that I had a lot to say about my postpartum body and never expected it to be such a popular topic. I’m thinking a blog post is in order, because I have a lot of feelings about this topic.
Wildbird launched their new Spring/Summer collection on Wednesday and I can’t decide if it’s silly to buy a third sling. My sweet mother-in-law bought us Starling (not currently offered) for Christmas and she has been well loved. I grabbed a second-hand Sparrow from a BST group a few weeks ago and added it to Polly’s Easter Basket, because we needed something lighter in color for summer. It is so soft and floppy and we’ve been using it non-stop. I know I don’t technically need another one, but maybe I’ll ask for this one for Mother’s Day?
