It’s been six months since I shared a day in the life post, which means I haven’t written one since Polly was born and that makes me sad. I kept thinking I would document our days at home together, but then I didn’t. I took plenty of photographs and I diligently wrote in our Promptly Journal, so it’s not that they aren’t documented, they just aren’t documented here. I decided that since I’m getting my life together in all of the other places, I might as well get it together here, too.

415 am | Our first nursing session of the day. We’re still nursing a few times overnight, because we cannot seem to get back in a normal sleeping routine. I’m not panicking yet, I know it will happen for her eventually.
515 am | She’s awake again. This time, I rock her back to sleep without nursing and manage to pass her off to Josh. I start the coffee, make the girls lunches, and decide that I should probably keep Polly at home. I usually work from home on Tuesdays, so I decide to take a sick day on Monday and work in the office on Tuesday instead (except I end up taking another sick day on Tuesday, because she’s even clingier than she was the day before.).
615 am | Guess who’s awake again? I was sipping coffee in the living room and heard her cooing at her daddy. I try not to interrupt their time together, but I eventually give up and crawl back in bed. We nurse again while we’re at it and then kiss the big girls before they head out the door for school.
730 am | We’ve moved on to the living room (where we had dueling televisions for the day!) to play with our favorite toys, since daddy is headed upstairs to work. She’s happy for a few minutes, so I answer some emails and square work away for the morning, when my dad comes in to join us for a cup of coffee.
845 am | I decide to document our day, since it’s still pretty early and the sun is just starting to fill our home. I put Polly down for nap, put biscuits in the oven for breakfast, and touch up the paint on our new cabinet while she’s down.
1000 | She’s awake and happy, so I put her in the walker to play while I get a few things done around the house. We diffuse peppermint and orange and our house smells AMAZING (I’m using inexpensive oils from Amazon, but a YL starter kit is on my list for next month). I cleaned up the kitchen and cooked chicken for Josh’s lunches this week.
We have to move from spot to spot, because she isn’t feeling well and refuses to be happy for more than a few minutes at a time. These photos are a bit misleading, since she grins for the camera almost every time I call her name.
1030 am | I decide to grab a quick shower while she was happy, so I pulled the walker into my bathroom to keep her corralled. Where is Polly?! keeps her occupied just long enough to wash my hair.
1100 am | We’re both hungry, so we decide on an early lunch. Polly eats cucumber and banana, while I make a turkey sandwich.
1130 am | I decide it’s probably time for another nap, but after fighting her for thirty minutes, I give up and rock her instead.
1215 pm | She’s finally asleep and I curl up on the couch to catch up on This Is Us and she promptly wakes up. We snuggle and watch together since she doesn’t want to be put down.
145 pm | She’s asleep again, so I run outside to the camper and make a list of things we need to pack for Spring Break.
245 pm | An hour is the best I can hope for today, so I throw Polly in the car and we run to pick Ella up from school. Josh usually does this, but he’s really busy and we’re both awake, so we surprise her in the pick up line.
330 pm | Sophie is home from school and my sister’s kiddos are spending the afternoon with us, so we all head outside for some much needed sunshine. I realize we need to burn the boxes in our fire pit, because they are in every photograph I try to take!
400 pm | Ella is finished with her homework and working on her science project, which is due on Thursday. Hudson desperately wants to get his hands in the paint, so he sits as close to her as possible.
430 pm | Sophie is loving having a couch in the sun room — this is her favorite spot for reading and afternoon homework. Polly is finally asleep and manages to sleep almost two hours this time. Praise be.
600 pm | I fell asleep during Polly’s nap, so Ella misses her Monday night dance class. Apparently we were all exhausted, because everyone but Josh squeezed in a nap. Sophie helped with Polly while I cooked dinner.
700 pm | I made this sausage pasta for the third time and we’re still in love. Sophie rarely eats dinner, so she had some fruit with Polly, and Ella prefers chicken, so she made a second pot of pasta with different ingredients.
730 pm | While I get Polly down for bed, my dad and Josh decide it’s time to pick a television and get it mounted on the wall. My dad’s TV migrates to the barn and they remove the mantle to hang our new TV over the wood burning stove.
800 pm | Chores are done, Polly is in bed, and the kitchen is all cleaned up. We pile on the couch and watch last week’s episode of Survivor before sending the girls upstairs to bed. The television looks ridiculously large in this photo, but we are loving how much better our living room functions with it on this wall!
