Once upon a time, I blogged five days a week. I had an editorial calendar that I followed pretty closely and I spent every free moment I had, writing and photographing things to share with you. So many of those posts were straight from the heart, but too many of them were centered around things I was supposed to share and links that might make me money. There wasn’t anything wrong with that, it just started to feel forced. When I’m trying to decide what I have time for today, there is no competition between snuggle the baby and source some affiliate links.
There was a time when watching my traffic dwindle to a third of what it was would cause some major anxiety, but I knew it was time to take a breather when I just didn’t care. This last year has been so full of revelations about who I want to be and how I want to spend my time. I miss connecting with you here, but I’m going to approach it a little differently moving forward. Remember when blogging was all about sharing what you were doing every day and less about what you were buying? I want to return to that conversational style of blogging and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing.
Life after baby looks less like coordinated outfits and more like bathrobes and batman tee shirts. It looks nothing like holiday gift guides and everything like new Christmas traditions. It’s probably not going to be scheduled blog posts, but it might be a few late night rambles or a month’s worth of video clips. We’re going to do a new thing here and I hope you’ll enjoy the change of pace as much as I’m hoping to. I have a few more fall posts to share (because my girls all had ridiculously cute Halloween costumes) and then we’ll shift into a slow Christmas season.
If there is anything new (or old!) that you’d love to see around here, please let me know in the comments below.
