Halloween was a two-day event for us this year, but that’s what it took to hit all of our favorite places and wear all of our Halloween costumes (yes, there were multiple!). We were super sad that my sister and her family couldn’t join us on Sunday, because we hit up a local Trunk or Treat in one of our favorite little towns. Ella indulged me with a few family photos in the costume she wore to a party the night before, but she ditched it before we left and tried to pretend she didn’t like trick or treating. Sophie put her cheetah / lion getup together using an old dance costume of Ella’s, some long johns to combat the weather and a fun pair of cat ears we found at Wal-Mart. Polly wore a pumpkin swaddle that I bought for Sophie’s six month photos, but she clearly wasn’t a fan!
Our adventure was short and sweet, but we had fun playing games and collecting treats around the town square. Not pictured are the insane number of tacos and enchiladas we consumed after!
On Halloween night, Josh & Cory had other plans and Ella met some friends to trick or treat a few towns away. That left me and Kamin with the middle kids and a whole lot of stroller action. We met in her neighborhood for an early round of trick or treating and then the daddies took us to another church festival before we cooked s’mores around the camp fire. We don’t live in a neighborhood, so Sophie was super excited to walk house to house and Polly gave her Minnie Mouse dress a trial run before our trip to Disney World.
Seriously — how cute is Vera Claire as Raggedy Ann?! Kamin bought her a big, red, yarn wig, but she refused to leave it on.
At the last minute, K and I decided to dress up using things we already had in our closets to surprise the kids. They might not know who Rosie the Riveter is, but they loved Kamin’s baseball uniform and they thought we were the coolest mom’s on the block. It turns out, we were the only ones on the block, but who’s counting?
It was a pretty low-key Halloween, but the perfect way to wrap up Polly’s first holiday season!
