Three posts in three days — who am I even? I’m pretty sure I said this in yesterday’s post, but as sad as I was to go back to work this week, it has it’s advantages. Maternity leave was wonderful and I’ll miss those lazy days at home with Polly, but I’m equally excited to embrace real life and see how Polly fits into all of the wonderful things we were already doing together. The next few months are filled with some of my very favorite days and it’s so fun to have her be apart of both the traditions and the normal, every day moments. Hopefully now that I’m not holding a baby eighteen hours a day, I’ll have a little more time to share what we’ve been up to!
Also, I drafted this post last night and realized AFTER it published that I used the prompts from last month, so please excuse the re-write.
appreciating | Is it okay to say that I’m appreciating how much sleep I got last night? We had a rough few weeks where Polly wasn’t sleeping great from 2-5 a.m. Josh was a champ and took her out of the room during those hours so I could get some solid sleep. Last week, we were creeping up to five or six hour stretches, but this week has been a dream come true. I feel confident that Polly was helping her mama out, knowing I was back at work this week, but I’ll gladly accept 7-8 hours of sleep any time she wants to offer it up.
researching | All of my researching these days is either Disney or breastfeeding related?! We have just over a week before our Thanksgiving vacation and I still have so many tweaks to make to our itinerary. I’m also reading everything I can get my hands on regarding pumping at work and maintaining a milk supply, since I’m trying desperately to keep Polly on breast milk, even though I’m back at work. My mini fridge is working overtime and so far, we seem to be doing okay.
posting | Posting at all is an achievement itself, especially given my track record for the last eight weeks. I have at least one more post to share with you this week and I’m trying to draft and schedule a few for next week and the week of Thanksgiving, so hopefully I’ll be spending more time in this space moving forward.
getting | We’re all getting insanely excited about our Disney trip this week. The girls only have five more days of school before we leave and my to-do list is ridiculous, but we’re focusing all of our energy on how much fun we’ll have and ignoring the stress altogether. Now ask me if I’ve bought our part tickets yet?! While I am a procrastinator when it comes to most things, for Disney I’m usually pretty organized. Being pregnant this year meant I let the character dining/fast pass window pass without even a thought. We’re still trying to grab a few things last minute (thanks to a sweet follower who swooped in to help), but this is probably going to be a very low-key Disney affair. With two little ones under a year old, we’ll be taking it slow and letting the kids dictate our schedule. I can’t wait to share our trip with you all in a few weeks!
cooking | This is where I tell you that we’re still living off of takeout and variety plates. I hate to keep using it as an excuse, but pregnancy — and later the insane schedule of a nursing mom — kept me out of the kitchen for the better part of this year. We have been lighting a fire in our backyard a few times a week for s’mores and wienie roasts. Does that count?
