The girls were beside themselves when it was finally time to give Polly a real bath. Granted it was twelve days in (her umbilical stump was the most stubborn of all!), but they didn’t think those sponge baths really counted.
I had everything ready to go when the girls got home from school one afternoon and my mom did all of actual bathing, while I assisted and took photographs (obviously). Gran has given the first bath to all of her grandkids and my absolutely favorite part of that is the role of the big green bowl. This is the same bowl that my mom uses to make her famous Christmas Cookies, so it’s pretty important around here.
She wasn’t thrilled about being so exposed and wet, but once we got to the rinsing portion of the afternoon, she was quite pleased. It turns out, Polly really enjoys bath time!
Can we talk about all of that squishy skin?!
I had to trade places with Gran for awhile, because I couldn’t pass up a picture with my girl.
I really need to write an entire post about how well the girls are doing, but this photo really sums it up. Ella is the biggest help and is pretty much obsessed with helping to care for her little sister.
I told you I had everything ready when the girls got home and I wasn’t kidding! I had this little stack of supplies laid out on our island and the girls knew immediately what that meant. I’ve had a few questions about what baby products we’re using for Polly, so I thought I’d give you a quick glimpse at our bath time favorites!
Babyganics Squeeze & Foam Shampoo-Body Wash is a clear favorite when it comes to bathing. It gets a great rating on EWG and smells like fruit loops! It seems very mild and gentle on her skin and we haven’t had any breakouts or cradle cap since using it. Ethique also sent us some baby products to try and this Oaty Delicious Shampoo Bar is so easy to use. I keep meaning to tell you that I’ve been using bar shampoo from Ethique for several months now and I love it (hello, zero waste products), but we really love their baby products, too. This Frida Baby Silicone Brush is supposed to help with dry skin and cradle cap, so we used it to slough off all of that flaky newborn skin during bath time. I’ve seen similar products for adults and I’m seriously considering replacing my loofah with one of these. Honest Baby products also get great ratings and this Sweet Orange Vanilla Body Lotion smells amazing. I think most of you saw our massive diaper delivery, courtesy of my aunt, but the verdict is in and we LOVE our Pampers Pure diapers and wipes. We’re five weeks in and haven’t had a single bout of diaper rash or irritation. This gown isn’t necessarily a bath product, but it does really help our evening routine. A friend gave me a huge stack of these Magnificent Baby Sleepers that are secured with mini magnets down the front. Talk about a game changer in the middle of the night!
