This isn’t going to be a full bumpdate — because I usually do those every four weeks — but since we’re running out of time and so many things change on a daily basis, I thought I’d share a few basic stats in between.
How Far Along Are You? 34 Weeks (last Wednesday)
Total Weight Gain: I’m actually not sure about the exact number this week. My last doctor’s appointment was kind of weird — I’m rotating between doctors in my practice and the appointment was so short that I completely forgot to ask. I do remember looking at the scale and thinking it hadn’t moved much, so I’m going to guess between 13-14 pounds total.
Maternity Clothes? I’ve been wearing maternity clothes — almost exclusively — since around 14 weeks. My jeans are starting to be uncomfortable and I hate anything that is itchy or will rub against my skin in the wrong way. At home, I stick with Josh’s oversized t-shirts and loose shorts and I’m trying to wear mostly dresses to work at this point.
Stretch Marks? Same answer as my last update: I have a few on my lower belly, but I’m pretty sure they are from a previous pregnancy.
How Are You Sleeping? I am sleeping so well this week. I’m not sure what flipped the switch, but I’m sleeping 8-9 hours a night and waking up in a complete stupor. I’ve also started taking naps as soon as I get home from work and that really helps me to stay up through dinner and evenings with the girls. On Saturday, I took a three hour nap and still slept 9 hours overnight. I know this won’t last long, so I’m soaking it all up!
Best Moment of the Week? The best part of my week, so far, has been a surprise baby sprinkle given by my immediate family and best friends. It was such a sweet way to spend a Sunday afternoon, even if it happened right as I was about to nap! We got some of the sweetest gifts and the girls loved helping me open them a second time last night as we got everything ready to wash.
Worst Moment of the Week? I can’t really think of a moment that was terrible, but I’ve had some pain in my groin and hips that is pretty debilitating. I don’t go to the doctor until next Tuesday, so I’m trying to take it easy and get plenty of rest between now and then.
Obsessing Over: How cute baby clothes are! We got some of the best gender neutral sleepers and onesies yesterday and they are so stinking cute. I think everyone was worried about shopping for a baby without knowing the gender, but they all did such a great job. Think cactus and monstera plants, tie-dyed and block printed, and lots of fun patterns like puppies and geometrics.
Movement? I told you guys last time that the movement was ridiculous and it still is. I’ve been convinced for weeks that baby was head-down, but after some strange prolonged movement last week and a new location for hiccups and concentrated kicking, I think we’re back to being transverse. This is cool for a few reasons — baby is laying off the super sensitive skin around my belly button and it alleviates my worry about going into labor (which has never happened, because I’ve always had transverse babies!).
Food Cravings: I honestly just don’t want food. Josh asks me every week when we’re going to start eating healthy again and I just don’t feel like preparing meals that I’m not going to eat. I also promised you guys that I would share more meals in my Instagram Stories, but they are all so lackluster. I’m eating lots of chicken salad, pasta salad, pretzels & cheese, apples, and oreos. I’m fully prepared to get a speech on my lack of protein next week.
Belly Button In or Out? It’s been a goner for months.
Things I Will Miss Least About Pregnancy? Last week’s answer is still pretty true: nose bleeds, leg cramps, sleeping on my side, not being able to reach my toes.
Things I Will Miss Most About Pregnancy? Also still true: baby kicks and hiccups, the lack of hair on my legs (HALLELUJAH!), and all the special treatment from my friends and family.
Gender? We talk a lot about this one, even though we don’t know. We go back and forth about what we think baby is and it’s been so funny to see how (and why) our answers change. Josh & Ella are on the boy boat this week, Sophie still doesn’t have a guess, and I’m so hesitant to make a guess out loud. While this pregnancy has been pretty different, I’m still inclined to think we’ll have another girl for consistency’s sake, but I’m fully prepared to be surprised and proved wrong. I’m still bitter about how adamant people in the boy camp are — it’s so abrasive and comments come in like criticisms — but I know I’m going to be so thrilled to meet baby either way, that I’m trying to ignore them all!
I ordered (what I think will be) my last maternity clothing item from PinkBlush last week and I’ve been telling people for days that it’s my favorite clothing purchase yet. You don’t want to know how many times I’ve worn it since it arrived and I’m pretty sure I’m going to wear it to my final baby shower this weekend. I was on the fence about ordering anything at all — given the amount of time I have left — but I’m so bored with the items currently in my closet and decided to try and find something more transitional, that I might could wear after baby’s arrival.
Lavender Abstract Print Slit Side Maternity Kimono c/o PinkBlush Maternity
I’m not sure why I waited so long to embrace the kimono trend, but one of you should have told me about this months ago. I have a few other open sweaters and one silk kimono from several years ago, but nothing patterned or casual enough to throw on with shorts or jeans or practically everything in my closet. Josh thinks this whole kimono trend is weird, so he makes a smirk every time I add this to an outfit, but all of the women I encounter go on and on about how cute it is. Sometimes, boys just don’t know what they are talking about?!
I have adored every single piece I’ve ordered from PinkBlush this summer — the quality and fit have been amazing, the price points are so reasonable, and several of these pieces will transition well to postpartum life. If you are still on the fence about ordering, I would recommend starting with something easy like this kimono or one of their beautiful maxi dresses — you will not be disappointed!
