I’m a big fan of Day in the Life posts, especially considering how quickly our pace of life seems to take. It is always so fun to pick a random month and year and see what exactly we were up to. I know that our days will continue to change in the coming month, but this season of big girls is so much fun! Since last week was recital week, I probably picked the worst possible day to document (ahem, and only snapped nine photos), but as busy and stressful as it was, Ella had such a great day.
5:30 a.m. | Make sure Ella was awake and getting ready for the day. This was early for an eleven year old on a summer day, but she managed to pull it together. Meanwhile, Sophie was completely dressed and ready (and already eating breakfast!) for her VBS pickup… at 8:05?!
6:15 a.m. | Leave for work, grab Chick-fil-a for breakfast on the way, listen to Ella’s hilarious commentary on traffic.
7:15 a.m. | At my desk, answering at least a hundred questions about when we were leaving and what our schedule was. That girl is a planner, through and through.
9:00 a.m. | Run Ella to the theater — a few blocks from my office — and head back to work.
10:00 – 11:45 a.m. | Work hard on my work to-do list. Knowing I only had a day and a half in the office before recital and vacation, meant I had more tasks that usual to accomplish: make phone calls, install software, trouble-shoot technical issues, set my out of office message, submit expense report, clean off my desk, etc.
11:45 a.m. | Walk to Chick-fil-a again and grab lunch for Ella. It was blazing hot outside and the walked seemed way more than a block in each direction.
12:15 p.m. | Drive Ella’s lunch over to the theater, eat mine sandwich in the car, walk her lunch inside after her class ran over.
12:45 – 4:30 p.m. | Continue working through my to-do list, run to the bank for beach cash and laundromat change, enjoy a beautiful walk outside, admire our newly renovated (AND FINALLY OPEN!) office bathrooms.
4:30 – 6:00 p.m. | Watch the end of Ella’s rehearsals, get details from studio owner and teachers about changes to dress rehearsal schedule, let Ella debrief me about allthethings.
6:30 p.m. | Trader Joe’s run for frozen potatoes and gluten free pancakes. Because, vacation.
7:30 – 10:00 p.m. | Get home, clean kitchen, yell a lot about all the things I still need to do, clean bathrooms, switch out laundry, pack the girls for vacation, pack Ella for dress rehearsal, sweep / mop / vacuum floors, enjoy our fairy garden of a back yard for a hot minute since Josh cut grass while we were gone, pack random things in the camper — in the dark — and update my to do list.
10:00 – 10:30 p.m. | Catch up on the internet, since I never even picked my phone up all day.
10:30 p.m. | Fall asleep on a heating pad, because my back yelled at me about all the things I did today.
