I’ve been feeling really guilty about my posting schedule for the last few months, but I realized yesterday that it’s silly to fret over. Instead of being frustrated that I can’t post here daily — I’m going to share when I feel like it, when I have time, and when I’m inspired — and stop worrying about all of the days in between. We have been so busy with house projects, doctor’s appointments, and extracurricular activities, that it feels like the year is flying by. I’m trying so hard to savor these days being pregnant (seriously, this is my last one) and I feel like the weeks are slipping through my fingers already. Slow down, time!
showering | Occasionally? Okay, that’s sort of a joke, but I finding myself so frustrated with the entire process of showering right now. I love to be clean, but I hate spending upwards of an hour showering, blow-drying my hair, and getting ready. I’ve always been fairly low maintenance, but being pregnant at 38 is proving to be challenging in ways I hadn’t considered. I’m short of breath a lot (although oddly, not as much at the gym) and I feel like everything takes twice as long. My belly is totally in the way and I can’t see to shave my legs! If you see me with minimal makeup or a ball cap on my head, you’ll know why.
cultivating | Hmmm, I’m not so sure about this one. I’d like to say that I’m cultivating new habits? I’ve been pretty faithful with the goals I set for myself this year (I need to update you on that, too!) and I’m hoping that this new sense of organization and the lack of procrastination will rub off on many other areas of my life.
expecting | Well, this one seems a bit obvious, don’t you think? We’re expecting a surprise baby in September that we couldn’t be more excited about. We’re expecting some new mattresses and pillows to arrive any day now — praise be! We’re expecting to have a fantastic weekend celebrating our brand new 8 year old. I’m expecting I’ll eat some form of fajitas/tacos at least three more times before the week is over. Spring seems like the perfect season of expectation!
making | When we decided to upgrade our mattresses this month, it sort of snowballed to many other master bedroom projects. We’ve basically been living in a college dorm room/bachelor pad for 18 months, so it’s been a long time coming. Most of the things for the room were purchased, but my mom and I are repurposing some old curtains and Josh is helping me to build an industrial pipe curtain rod. I’m going to attempt to make a bed skirt out of canvas drop cloths next week, so assuming all goes well, I’ll share those projects on the blog very soon.
buying | April has been a month of expenditures, for sure. I paid my final maternity installment, taxes are due next week, we have to renew our license plates at some point, we sent the camper off for some minor repairs, and we’re celebrating Sophie’s birthday — basically, I’m writing all the checks and saving less this month than I really wanted. I’ve also been picking up some fun things for baby this month and nesting has hit full force. We might be having a no spend month in May!
