I’m not sure how it’s January. January. I know we all get tired of saying it (and reading it), but why does life go by so quickly once you reach adulthood? I want to do a better job of savoring my days in 2018. I want to stop anticipating the weekend so much, that I forget to enjoy every Tuesday and Wednesday that comes around (Monday’s are another story, obvi). I want to be more intentional this year — with blogging and with other aspects of my life.
I know I’m late to the game on a goals post for this year, but I’m still thinking about what those look like for 2018. Instead of putting all of my energy into the new year, I’ve spent the last eleven days soaking up our home and our girls and the Christmas lights. I’ll share a post in the next few days — and probably write a separate one for my reading goals — but for now, I’m going to coast into the new year, instead of blaze full steam ahead!
starting | I’m starting a new Instagram series, on the first day of every month. Last year, I marked each month with a quote or marker of some kind, and while I really liked the division, I hated how that looked in my feed (Yes, I realize how ridiculous that sounds). I was inspired by a few friends who shared photos of their street or a favorite place, many times throughout the year, and decided to use that as my monthly marker. I took a photo of our home on the first day of January and I’ll continue documenting that same view as the year passes by. I love the idea of being able to easily define each month and being able to look at all of those photos together one day.
hoping | I need to pick up a new calendar today, visit the bank to change our address (finally) and open a few new accounts, and get my desk at work cleaned out. Basically, I’m hoping to have my life fully organized by the end of the week!
scheduling | Another thing on my list for today is meal planning. Everyone in my house functions better when they know exactly what to expect for dinner, every day of the month. This process served us so well in the fall of last year and I’m planning to implement it as often as possible in 2018!
reading | While I didn’t quite meet my goal for reading in December, I did meet my yearly goal and then some. I’m working on a recap post of everything I read last year and I’m starting to flesh out my list for 2018. I’m currently reading The Nest (which I borrowed from Jennifer, at least six months ago) and Artemis is next on my list!
playing | Sophie got two new games for Christmas this year — Don’t Break the Ice and Mousetrap. The former has been played so many times in the last eleven days, but I promised her that we would break out Mousetrap this weekend. Who else remembers loving that as a child?
Anne will be hosting Currently again on February 7th, so be sure to link up. We’ll be discussing what we’re currently finishing, subscribing, wishlisting, watching, and hearting.
