accomplishing | More than I did the first quarter of this year. I’m not sure what prompted an entire quarter of laziness, but I managed to get it together [mostly] in March and I’m hoping to keep up the momentum. I finally sent our taxes off to the accountant, so that’s good. On my list this week is tackling all the paperwork. I haven’t established a good system since our move, nor have I figured out where I want everything to live. I’m trying to put some thoughts down on paper and establish a new rhythm before the year gets away from me.
feeling | Determined. I know it’s only been two weeks [eleven days, if we’re getting technical] since I joined Orangetheory, but I already feel so much better. I’m sleeping like a champ, so much less bloated, and I’m able to get up easier each morning. I’ve been pretty sore, so I took a few days off to recover. Josh laughed and said I went from zero to seventy and probably needed to rest or I was going to stay sore. I’m headed back in for an early class on Friday and starting Sunday, should be on a more regular schedule.
needing | Clothes for Ella. The girl woke up this week and [literally] nothing in her closet fits. There were some tears as we tried every item on and made a huge pile for Sophie [who was cheering like a maniac], and we ended up with very little left. She has several gift cards leftover from Christmas and I plan to supplement her budget for a few needed items. We’re headed out for a one on one date Saturday afternoon, so wish me luck. Shopping with a 10 year old is not for the faint of heart.
practicing | This is hard prompt for me… counting to ten in my head before yelling, maybe? I’ve been thinking about my approach to parenting and what sorts of things my girls respond best to. I’m trying to be more intentional about meal times and quality time and my tone of voice, so I’m practicing a little restraint there [At least I think I am. Josh?]
pinning | All things camper-related. I’ve been finding a ton of inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram for our little camper makeover and it’s going so well! I’ve accomplished a ton and I have so many projects in the works. I have some great sponsors and I’ve found a ton of frugal finds, so this whole “budget makeover” is going pretty well. Wanna see?
Rather than call this a list of goals, I thought we’d do a little “to do list” each month instead. The word goal makes it sound so lofty and important, and I’m talking more about things I want to accomplish than achieve.
Let’s take a quick look at March’s list before moving on to April, shall we?
Continue being content with my closet.I killed this. I didn’t buy a single item for my closet in February or March. Not one. The only thing I’ve bought this month were a few workout tanks because I had nothing to wear to the gym. I grabbed a few cheapies from TJMaxx [because I’m convinced I’m going down a size before investing], but I’m not planning any additional purchases this month.Finish the Master Bedroom redo in our travel trailer. Also done. I’m waiting on one item to arrive [from China — insert major eyeroll over International shipping right here] and then I’ll be blogging all about it.Survive our first dance competition with no hiccups.I’ve already blogged about this, but Ella was amazing in her first competition. The girls did so much better than expected and we had the best time. We’re gearing up for three competition weekends in a row, so I should probably repeat this item for April!- Get organized. Just, no. I didn’t even come close with this one. I saw a meme yesterday that said: My brain when I try to sleep: “All my bills. All my chores. All the stress. Who am I? What is the universe?” My brain during the day: “Potato potato ching chong tomato.” Am I the only one?
Get Organized. Maybe if I keep listing this one, I’ll actually get around to it. Right?
Get the Camper cabinets painted and put the finishing touches on the main living space. I’m in the home stretch with the kitchen side of the room, but I’d like to get the rest of the living area painted this month and have the carpet cleaned. I still need to order fabric for the couch and dinette, so that might not happen until May, but I’d like to get ahead of the game this month if I can. June isn’t very far away!
Celebrate Sophie’s Birthday! I’ve discussed at length my horror over having her party at a play place, but she is so excited. She’s been counting down the days and gives me an update every morning as soon as she opens her eyes. I’m sure I’ll do a full photo recap, even though there won’t be any decor to speak of.
Take down the girls’ Christmas tree. I know what you’re thinking and I have no excuse. They actually took the decorations off several weeks ago and they’ve been lying in a pile next to the tree since then. They’re out of school for inclement weather and I left them with instructions to pack the ornaments up today. It’s happening friends. Pinky promise.
Begin planning our anniversary trip. We’re headed to Denver in August [for a concert at Red Rocks] and are excited to make it a fun trip to celebrate our 15th anniversary. I’m not sure that I’m ready to book plane tickets or anything, but we’re hoping to do a rafting or ziplining tour and it’s time to make a decision about how long we’ll stay.
Complete my second Whole30 of 2017 and continue going to OTF 4-5 days a week. My first W30 was a huge success, except we headed to California right after and vacation majorly derailed my eating. I’m making zero excuses here, but it’s time to get myself back in line. I’m on day five and feeling great [for a change — this is usually when I want to kill all the things], so I’m hoping this one isn’t as stressful as the last.
Now let’s get to it — everyone’s favorite monthly recap. Here’s a look at our monthly recap, by the numbers (ish).
Happy April, interweb friends!
