My plan for today was to share the (very) few outfit snaps that I managed during the month of January and invite you to link up. You know what they say about plans, though, right? I just couldn’t get that post drafted last night and we were celebrating Josh’s birthday, packing last minute items and throwing one last load of laundry in the wash. Let’s just flip flop our entire editorial calendar and take a look at our Monthly Report instead. Cool?
Wardrobe Wednesday Thursday will be here bright and early tomorrow. Pinky swear!
packing | This prompt seems too easy given our current status. How about we call this one packed instead? The girls got carry on luggage from Santa and we liked it so much that we asked him to send a few for the grownups in January. We were hoping to use carry on luggage only, but with two California destinations and a wedding, we didn’t quite make it. One checked bag for four people wasn’t too terrible, I guess.
jonesing | For a really great cheeseburger. Josh and I did lots of restaurant research before our trip and there are several great things on our list. I might be most excited to try In-N-Out Burger, though. We didn’t manage to find one on our San Francisco trip several years ago, but it is on the must do list for this week. Tell me what to order!
texting | Jennifer. The answer to this question is always and only Jennifer.
reading | For the plane this week, I packed The Mothers, Into Thin Air, and Everything Everything. I’m also armed with The Underground Railroad on Audible, so I doubt I run out of travel options! (Pssst, affiliate links.)
hearting | This Twitter account. Josh & I might have stayed up way too late giggling at this one night last week. How can you not love dogs?!
Rather than call this a list of goals, I thought we’d do a little “to do list” each month instead. The word goal makes it sound so lofty and important, and I’m talking more about things I want to accomplish than achieve.
Before we gather a list for February, let’s check in on how things went in January. Shall we?
Get the blog unwonky:It turns out, I was having some server issues and once my web developer figure that out, all was well!Spend daily time in the Word:I created a quick printable to keep me on track and I’ve been reading in the mornings over coffee. I won’t lie — some days I get behind — but it’s been easy to catch back up.- Buy zero items of clothing: This was an utter failure. I kept an entire Stitch Fix box and purchased several other things for our trip. I did have a crisis of conscience regarding my closet, though, and I’ll be sharing more about that later this week.
Complete Whole30:I had some major cravings (thank you, Josh, for eating cereal in bed), but I managed to survive the entire thirty days. I made lots of yummy recipes this month and learned a lot about myself. Again. Full report to come later this month.Read four books:I killed my reading goal this month. I completely six books and came really close to getting another in before the end of the day on Tuesday.
For February, I’d like to accomplish the following:
Schedule blog posts. Back in the fall, I managed to get a month ahead on my editorial calendar and it was glorious. I was a few weeks out before we left on our trip, but with no access to a computer at the moment, that buffer is going to come to a screeching halt. I’d like to spend a few weekends this month, writing and editing posts, so that I’m not always in such a rush.
Improve the blog, generally. Moving to WordPress was a huge step last year and I feel like it took a full twelve months for my traffic to return. I learned so much from my reader survey and I’d like to work hard to implement your suggestions. I’m hoping to partner with lots of healthy brands this year to bring you content that more closely aligns with our normal life. I need to learn to be more proactive and brave when it comes to the business side of things.
Embrace life after Whole30. I didn’t get to slowly reintroduce food groups because of our trip, so I’m planning a mini-detox next week. Afterwards, I’d like to eat mostly Whole30, with a few splurges on the weekends. I do much better when adhering to rules, so using the same basic premise should help me stay on track.
Plan Sophie’s Birthday Party. This year, Tazzie’s birthday falls between two dance competition weekends and just happens to be on Good Friday. I’ve gone round and round about how to handle this and I think we’re going to celebrate on her actual birthday and just pray that someone shows up. We’re planning to have the party here, which will require no decorating and very little planning on my part. I’d still like to come up with some cute, outdoorsy themed snacks and party favors, though. Any suggestions?
Film a House Tour. We should be officially purchasing our house sometime this month (or next) and it’s time to get a real tour on the blog. We had so much fun with episode one of our home vlog and it’s time to make that a regular series. We’ll be rolling out lots of inspiration this month as we finalize our renovation plans.
Now it’s time for everyone’s favorite monthly recap. Sharing these infographics was such a fluke in the beginning, but I love being able to look back through everything that was happening in our lives over the last several years. I’m also hoping to create a coffee table book filled with infographics sometime in the near future. How fun it would it be for guests to thumb through those images when they visit?
You can find all of my Whole30 posts here. It was so much fun sharing weekly updates this time!
I’ll be sharing all of what I read in January later this week, but you can catch my very first time co-hosting the Collaboreads link up for now.
We did all sorts of fun things this month, including our 11th annual circus, indoor climbing, and a much anticipated ice skating adventure.
Josh turned thirty-eight and for the next eleven months I can remind him that he’s older than me.
I started sharing our love story!
We experienced the warmest January ever and it’s making me long for spring.
Speaking of spring, I’m ready for better running weather. I was such a wimp in January and never even laced up!
Josh & I spent way too many nights watching movies. What it is about winter that calls for pajama dates?
Have you downloaded the new John Mayer album? You totally should.
We cooked Potato Soup, Creole Jambalaya, Sweet Potato Nachos, Paleo Meatloaf Muffins & Breakfast Casserole this month — all Whole30 approved!
