Dear Virtual Friends, I’m so excited that you’re back here again this month. I hope that we can grow this little linkup together and learn all sorts of fun things about each other as we go.
Dear New Visitors, This is our favorite new linkup. The second Friday of every month, we’ll be sharing Little Letters together on our blogs. Write a series of letters to anyone or anything you’d like and come back here to link up. Don’t forget to share with your friends. This is one of those times where “the more, the merrier” definitely applies!
Dear December, You arrived much quicker than I anticipated, but boy am I glad you’re here. Cooler temperatures, sparkly lights and presents under the tree? It doesn’t get sweeter than that.
Dear Christmas Cards, I designed you weeks ago, but I haven’t mailed you yet. That is part procrastination and part, well… it’s probably part laziness, too. I love you so much and I promise I’ll have you out before Christmas actually arrives.
Dear office building outside my window, I love watching your holiday lights flick on every evening after dark. I think it should be mandatory that every skyscraper in town display trees and wreaths and stockings on their facades. Don’t you think?
Dear Peppermint Mocha, I might only get to enjoy you a few weeks of the year, but you will always be my favorite.
Dear Christmas shopping, I’m not sure how I conquered you so soon, but I’m offering zero complaints. I checked your final item off my list just after December arrived and I’m so glad to be enjoying the holiday season without you hanging around my neck. Thank for you not presenting too many challenges, or hard-to-find and out-of-price-range items this year.
Dear Advent Study, I am enjoying you so much this season. It’s been so long since I was this invested in a daily reading plan and you are helping me to slow down and really embrace the quiet of my mornings in a more intentional way. I look forward to those few minutes after the kids are off to school each day — there isn’t much better than Christmas lights, coffee and Jesus all at the same time. I wish I could carve out time to journal as I read every morning, but the few times a week I am able to break out the art supplies is so, so sweet.
Dear Santa Claus, Last year, when you made your drive through our neighborhood just days before Christmas? Well, you completely missed our house. I was forced to throw my pajama clad children in the car and chase you down like the mad woman that I am. Did I mention that I, too, was wearing pjs and house slippers? Could you do us the favor of a little advanced notice and maybe a less circuitous route this time? Our new driveway is really long and I might cry if we miss you again.
Dear blonde hair, We’ve been friends for a really long time — 37 years to be exact. I’ve never tried to change your hue, because I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to beauty routines. Which makes it completely out of character that I’m considering bidding you farewell. I think perhaps I’d like to try being a brunette for a while, but maybe we’ll meet again in the future.
Dear California, We are still very much planning to visit you in February. I’ve already purchased DisneyLand tickets and we all have wedding attire on order, I just can’t seem to remember to buy plane tickets. Please don’t let me down.
Dear Woodpecker, The gigantic hole in the side of my house is not cool. Not at all. I am tired of hearing you destroy the wall, tired of watching Josh & Poppy chase you with a rifle, tired of watching you fly off into the sunset. Either find a new home or find a grave. It’s just that simple.
