Dude. How is it time for another year in review post? Just as in years past, this is one of my favorite posts of the year and I had such a great time going back through all we’ve shared this year and finding the posts and photos that best represent this year for us. Enjoy!
January always feels so good, right? We turn the final page on another year and have the opportunity to be and do whatever it is we want! Everything about 2016 was a new adventure for us and the blog felt no different. We shared a letter to our favorite holiday ever, talked a lot about creative inspiration, started receiving monthly fixes and finally unveiled the new blog design.
In February, I finished a month of Whole30 and shared some reflections on how things were going, along with this new recipe and a perfect twist on an old favorite. We created some inexpensive Valentine’s Day printables for Sophie’s friends, talked a lot about Bible Journaling, and unveiled a new blog link up that we have loved hosting this year.
I started sharing daily outfit inspiration in March, along with my favorite way to dress for travel. Ella and I took a weekend road trip to Chattanooga and recapped all of her competition season shenanigans.
We wrapped up our first three months of paleo living in April and I dished all the dirty details. Sophie turned six years old and we celebrated a wonderful Easter with family.
May was one of my favorite months this year! Gran and I surprised the girls with a one day beach adventure and later in the month, Josh and I snuck away for a fun weekend filled with great music. People went nuts for these speech bubble embellishments on Instagram, so I created a fun free printable to share with you guys on the blog! We finally recapped Sophie’s birthday on the blog, with the most adorable unicorn party ever. I mean, how cute are these party favors?!
We spend the entire month of June thinking about dance recitals and beach vacations, so the blog was filled with flashback posts and monthly recaps. I shared an update on where I was creatively and shared a fun new top for the summer holiday season.
We might have vacationed in June, but July is the month we tell you all about it! I spent so much time editing beach photos and sharing a fun series of videos we created in our favorite places. Did I mention I got a tattoo? I joined some blog friends for a new link up (that I love) and continued to share monthly posts about what I was wearing and reading.
August means back to school and that means we shared our annual interviews and an update on how the girls were doing. I spent much of the month updating the only bathroom in our cottage, but we shared another long overdue project with you, too! Ella shared her first guest post of the year and I told you how I squeeze everything into the average day.
I joined Bailey for another round of Blogtember during the month of September and it set me up for a return to to daily blogging the rest of the year. We updated a tiny closet in Ella’s room and found out shortly after that our house was finally under contract. Ella turned TEN that month and we celebrated with the coolest sleepover ever. I shared a fun way to make your own planner, along with these dream catchers and an easy costume DIY.
In October, I made THE BEST version of loaded potato soup — this year, I got really good at making my favorite recipes Whole30 compliant! I started receiving monthly fixes after a summer off and fell in love with this adorable pencil skirt. We had our annual pumpkin patch adventure and it went much better than the year before. I started writing letters again and can’t remember why I ever stopped.
We finally moved in November and I shared the final series of photos from our beloved rock cottage. I shared a huge stack of wonderful books and recapped our fantastic Halloween weekend. I started another blog link up this month, because I needed to write more letters. Ella danced at a super fun holiday celebration and we shared all about our Thanksgiving barn party.
Oh, December. You came way too fast, but boy did we soak you up! I read an amazing book to start the month and later recapped all that I read the month before. We shared more little letters and hosted a monthly wardrobe party. I talked more than enough about food and shared a delicious family recipe for the holidays. We added lots of video to the blog this month in the form of Christmas tree hunts and our first installment of the new house series.
This was one of my favorite years in recent history and I’m sad to see it go. The upside is that 2017 is going to be amazing! I’m looking forward to making our new house a home, adding frequent flyer to the resume of our little girls, and welcoming a new puppy into our home. I’m hoping to continue growing this space and bringing you new and fun content all year long and would love to know what posts are your favorite! As much as this site is mine, you are what makes it so special.
