So, it’s November. Since I spent most of October packing and preparing to move, it both flew by and dragged on in equal measure. I don’t have much to show for the month other than a full storage pod and a new house, but we did manage to fill it full with wonderful memories in the process. Before we recap all that has happened over the last month (again), how about we quickly cover how we’re already digging into November?
discovering | Moving into my childhood home is bringing all sorts of discovery. I’m discovering that my parents could hear every stomp up the stairs, every late night giggle and every squeak of my bedroom floor. Josh and I are discovering what it’s like to have two sinks in our bathroom, three bathrooms in our house (insert ALL the praise hands here), and twenty-six kitchen cabinets instead of three. The girls are discovering what it’s like to live upstairs, have room to run and how not to call this house Gran’s. My parents are discovering what it’s like to have their oldest daughter come back home and let go of a house that’s been home for almost thirty years. It is going to be four months of discoveries as we temporary live as a single household, be we are excited about spending the holidays under one roof.
celebrating | The upside to scheduling our move over Halloween weekend was that we didn’t have an Alabama football game to contend with. The downside was trying to pack, close, move and clean all while trying to squeeze the holiday in between. I’ll be sharing a recap on Friday, but we attended a new-to-us Trunk or Treat, had delicious Mexican food with my sister’s family, welcomed a handful of trick or treaters and enjoyed soup by the campfire. It was pretty much the most perfect Halloweekend ever.
starting | While we aren’t starting our renovation plans until my parents move out in February (more about that next week), we are starting to make plans for how we’ll ultimately make this house our own. We’ve been dreaming of these days for months, so we have a pretty good idea where things are going, but actually living in the house and seeing how it works for us will no doubt change a few things. I’m also starting a whole new stack of books this month, since I finished up my last two for October yesterday (nothing like cutting it close!).
wearing | I wish I could tell you I was wearing lots of layers and pretty fall pieces, but the high today is supposed to be 89 degrees. What in the fresh heck? How is a girl supposed to enjoy fall when we’re already sweating before breakfast every morning? I’m doing my best to wear transitional items that keep me cool and look enough like fall, but it’s SO HARD. We’ll be traveling to Louisiana for the football game this weekend and I am dreading wearing summer clothes to another game. Where are you, fall?
googling | I am currently searching for fun stocking stuffers for the girls, ideas for a gift guide later this month, inspiration for a planked barn door, and hair inspiration. I have never colored my hair in all my thirty-seven years, but I’m considering a color change this year. I am equal parts terrified and excited.
Now who wants to talk about October? It’s time for my favorite post of the month: a numerical recap of everything we enjoyed and accomplished over the last 31 days!I switched up the color scheme this month because I felt like it needed to be fall inspired, right? The cotton candy colors of summer seemed a little out of place in November. Although it is going to be 89* here today, so maybe I’m missing the mark there. Despite it being the busiest month of the entire year, I managed to read seven books?! I’ll be reviewing them all on the blog this Thursday, so swing back around if you need some new-to-you recommendations. Everything I read this month was excellent. Despite my incessant anxiety and too-numerous-to-count daily text messages to my real estate agent, we finally managed to sell our house! It was such a bittersweet weekend and I’ll be sharing more and more about the process and our newest adventure over the next several weeks. The Walking Dead premiered and as much as I loved that episode, it was so hard to watch. I had a blanket over my head for almost the entire episode, but I’m kind of known for almost watching television shows (i.e. all the secondhand embarrassment of the bachelor/bachelorette franchise used to keep me from ever looking at the screen). Ella picked up extra dance classes this month in preparation for a holiday parade this month, so we’ve practically lived at the studio. Dancing four nights a week isn’t for the faint of heart. Thank goodness, my mom carted her to and from for most of this month while we packed up everything we owned. I took a much needed social media break and removed the pressure on myself to post daily (or at all) when I was feeling overwhelmed. I only shared seventeen images this month, but with so much going on, I felt silly over thinking stupid things like posting schedules and unfollowers. How ridiculous that this is even a thing. I completely forgot to take outfit photographs for most of the month. My remote shutter broke and my tripod was in storage and, really, I just didn’t have time. I grabbed a new remote shutter last night and I’ve scouted out a new spot for photographs, so hopefully our monthly recaps will return this month!
Later this week I’ll be sharing some closet inspiration and asking for your advice, hosting our now-monthly Wardrobe Wednesday linky party, talking all about our Halloween plans and recapping everything I read in October. See you around.
