How is it March already? No really, we are already a week into March and I am starting to panic. The last nine weeks of 2016 have passed by in a blur and I’m not ready. Sure, I’m looking forward to daylight savings time, warmer weather and ALLTHESUNSHINE, but I am not ready for this year to get away from me yet. February was a fun one. We packed in so many fun events this month and I tried to be super intentional with how we spent our time. I am loving the longer days and can’t wait to continue enjoying this beautiful weather together!
We continued to rock out our healthy living challenge this month. There were a few unnecessary splurges, but I think the way we are planning and enjoying cheat meals is completely changing the way I think about food. I feel guilty when I stray from our plan and quickly pull myself back together. I carefully calculate our travel plans and I’m always checking the calendar for upcoming events. I haven’t been as diligent about incorporating exercise as I had planned, but I’m not stepping on the scales and my clothes are still fitting great. In case you missed it, I’ve shared a fabulous pork chop and beef stew (that we’re eating for dinner again tonight) recipes, my favorite Sprouts shopping items (via video) and everything I learned in my first month of clean eating.
I completely meant to recap it for you, but I ran the first six mile leg of the Mercedes Marathon Relay in February. I hadn’t trained as much as I should have, but ran the entire six miles and felt so good afterwards! I really enjoy doing the relay with my co-workers every year, but I am vowing to you right now that I will get back to longer runs and be ready for the half before next February. I did treat myself after the race with plenty of Starbucks, Zaxby’s and a Valentine’s pasta dish. It was well-deserved.
Jennifer & I teamed up to bring you a new style series in February and I am loving it so much! We had several girls link up during the second week and I’m super excited to watch our party grow. The post doesn’t have to be anything professional, just hop on and share your favorite finds or your outfits for the week. I’m planning to share some workout gear this week and I heard a rumor that Jennifer will be giving us a Disney fashion round up! I’ve even ordered a few inexpensive things from Amazon that I hope will help improve the daily outfit photos moving forward. What are some other WW topics you would love to see?!
We are gearing up for full-on dance competition season this week, so it only stands to reason I would add that to our infographic. Ella had four extra practices this month and we’ve spent lots of time organizing our gear and preparing for travel. We’ll be road-tripping to Chattanooga this weekend and I hope to share some dance recaps and a few other fun posts about our travels next week!
Am I the only one who was thrilled for the return of television last month? We had been surviving on Hulu & Netflix (and maybe some questionable streaming sites) for the last several months, but I was so excited to see what my favorite characters were up to. We fell in love with Vikings over the holidays, but we’re all caught up and watching it in real time now. Survivor looks likes it’s going to be a winner this season (I think we’re getting a medical evacuation this week) and The Walking Dead has really returned with a vengeance (last night’s episode, anyone?). I will tell you that my love for Shonda Rhimes is fading a little the season. Grey’s has been on forever and Scandal continues to frustrate me. HTGAWM is pretty intriguing this season, but overall I’m bored. I think the problem is that television is getting SO good these days that it’s like watching mini-movies every week and I feel like Thursday night TV is just the same old story lines re-imagined every week. Somebody tell me it will get better!
Somehow we managed not to watch a single movie in January, but we made up for it in February. I’m sure all of the Oscar hype had something to do with that (we caught three of the Best Picture nominees in a single month), but we were thrilled to fall in love with a few beautiful stories. How about we have a mini movie review right here, okay? The Revanant: beautiful and painful to watch, but you cannot go wrong with Leonardo DiCaprio & Tom Hardy in the same film (5 out 5 stars). Deadpool: ridiculously silly, but great adult-humor, plus Ryan Reynolds (2 out of 5 stars). The Choice: I had a great evening with some of my favorite girls, but for most of the movie I complained about the lead actor’s hair (1 out of 5 stars). Room: I’ve had this book on my nightstand for weeks, but Josh forced me to watch the movie with him first. Allthefeels, friends (5 out of 5 stars). Spotlight: This movie made me sick in the most perfect way. The cast was fabulous and I just wanted to give Mark Ruffalo a hug (4 out of 5 stars).
I only read four books this month, but at least I’m right on schedule for my goal of 52 books this year! You can read my reviews for this month’s selections here.
I pretty much adored February. It’s usually such a quiet month, squeezed in between the holidays and our spring dance schedule, but we fit so many wonderful events and memories in the last twenty-nine days. March is going to be hard-pressed to keep up!
