I had planned to share a little bit about the girls’ Fine Arts Night at school a few weeks ago, but then I noticed a folder full of random photos in the queue, so I decided to give you a “Life Lately” post today instead. Buckle up, because this one is completely random!
A few weeks ago, the girls had art on display at school and then got to participate in Literacy Night. Of course, it was a Tuesday and Ella had dance class, so Sophie and I decided to tackle it alone. We did run by Ella’s classroom to take a peek at her piece on our way to the Kindergarten wing, though. In case I haven’t said this before, I’m a HUGE Gustav Klimt fan, so I loved seeing her sweet face like this and all of those florals! I can’t wait to find a fun place to frame this one at home.
Sophie snuck in a quick pose by her classroom door and then we were searching for her artwork in the halls. I loved her owl painting!! It is so fabulously quirkly and just her style. I’m thinking this one is a framer, too. I can’t wait to have a big white expanse for a gallery wall at the next house because I fully intend to have a place devoted to the girls’ artwork somewhere.
This past Friday, Sophie hung out with her daddy at home while Ella and I went to see the Alabama Ballet’s performance of Don Quixote at a local college theater. One of her ballet teachers dances with the ballet and invited the girls to watch him perform. We had perfect seats and he met us before the show to talk to the girls about the plot and to try and explain all that they would see. We got all dolled up, had a fabulous dinner with friends and then enjoyed two hours of beautiful dancing!
We were so fortunate that John invited us backstage to see the set and all of the beautiful dancers still in costume. Ella was a little overwhelmed with all there was to see, but we had a wonderful time and smiles on our faces for hours.
I’ll be sharing more photos from this little photo shoot on Wednesday, but I couldn’t help but laugh out loud when I found this one on my camera over the weekend! My sister was sweet enough to snap some photos for me in her home studio last week and Hudson was a riot. He was thrilled to find me there when he woke up and had to jump in a few frames with me in his pajamas. We played with his farm and had a little dance party while his mama worked her magic.
On Friday night, Ella went to a basketball game with her daddy and Sophie spent the night with my parents. I wasn’t planning to have a night to myself, but I ended up running all sorts of necessary errands and then spent some much needed time with my DVR. I grabbed a great full length mirror for our living room (hello, daily outfit selfies) at Homegoods. Jennifer was dying, because I moved furniture to get it on the wall and I kept texting her my progress. I also ran by Books-a-Million to grab the next few books in the Outlander series and I randomly decided on an unplanned cheat meal at Panera Bread since I was all by myself. I didn’t quite tackle the DVR, but I did watch Grey’s & Scandal, followed by the last few chapters of my book.
Any Walking Dead fans in the house? This is actually related to last week’s episode, but it makes me giggle every time I see it. I am LOVING this half of the season already. I mean, who doesn’t love the whole Rick + Marchone situation?!
How about a few more photos from my phone that I found funny? My mom has sent me the following pin three times since Christmas. Apparently, I really need to buy this shirt for Josh!
The whole reason Sophie decided to grow out her most adorable little bob haircut is because she’s been dreaming of braids. She’s been able to sport pony tails and pig tails for over a year, but the braid has been ever elusive. All of sudden, her hair is starting to thicken up and she asked for a braid before school today. She was prancing and preening all over the house this morning and insisted that I snap a picture so she could look at it better!
Last weekend, I went shopping with my mom and sister and took random photos of things that I needed or thought other people in my life really needed. Do you do that? I somehow forgot to snap a picture of the cutest pair of pajamas that I totally regret putting back. They had two pairs for less than $10 and I almost bought them both (would a friend think it weird if I bought us matching pajamas?!) because they were so adorable. I hope I can recover from that loss…
I texted this photo to Arden, because she DEFINITELY needed a Christmas Cat sweatshirt for next year!
Also, this one-piece pajama situation was the most amazing fabric of all time. There was also a fox version of this that I really wanted my sister to buy, but it was a no-go. I did text it to my cousin, though, because she’s a big fan of the adult onesie.
And as much as I do NOT need this sweater in three colors, my favorite Free People number was on sale for $47 at Nordstrom Rack. Somebody buy this for me for Easter?!
These don’t have anything to do with anything, except I couldn’t believe how fat my face was!! When I was linking our previous circus visits earlier this month, I stumbled across these photos and couldn’t help but laugh. The one on the left is about 10 months after Sophie was born and right before I joined Weight Watchers and first started running. The second one is two years later, but I actually lost most of that weight in about six months. All in all, it was close to forty pounds and I NEVER, ever want to go back!
That’s all I’ve got today, friends. I hope that was as fun as it was random!
