I know it’s Tuesday and I’m not usually hanging out over here, but I’m kind of in love with my new site and just want to share allthethings. Since Valentines Day is closing in on us quick, I thought I would share a few more quick DIYs this week for my fellow procrastinators out there! How adorable are these DIY Diamond Ring Valentines? I mean, diamonds ARE a girl’s best friend.
DIY Diamond Ring Valentines Instructions
Every year, I struggle to come up with several different ideas for the girls’ cards. We have dance friends and school friends and church friends and cousins galore! Sure, I could make one Valentine’s Day card and use them for everything, but where is the fun in that? This year, I ran to Target as soon as they had the new holiday displays unveiled and picked up these super cute eraser rings for Ella’s dance friends. At $3 for 24 treats, this came WAY under my usual holiday budget.
I knew we didn’t want to use the words “gem” or “jewel” this year, since we used something similar last year, but I couldn’t get “diamonds are a girl’s best friend” out of my head! I designed this cute printable with graphic gemstones in fun colors, which is perfect for a girly (but not TOO sweet) Valentine’s Day treat.
Simply trim the cards along the grey line and round the corners if you’d like! I thought this made them look a bit more finished and less hand-made. You could use baker’s twine or ribbon of your choice, but we grabbed some left-over twist ties from our craft stash, punched two small holes and used them to attach our rings. These were perfect for keeping everything secure and sturdy, but still keeping it easy enough for little fingers to detach. Nothing is worse than having to wait on your mom (or teacher!) to unwrap your treats.
Just in case you aren’t near Target or they are already all sold out (whomp whomp), we grabbed these inexpensive heart-shaped ring pops at the dollar store for an easy alternative. Yes, we used ring pops in our Valentines last year, but they are such a fun treat and these look completely different than our previous attempt. Simply place them in these 4×6 cello bags and add some pretty washi tape on the back to secure. Voila!
