I know I boasted about the amazing Santa setup we found last year, but I somehow managed not to secure an appointment this year and they didn’t have a walk-in option. To say I was bummed is an understatement. The ability to take your own photos, have an appointment AND a beautifully decorated venue was some sort of Christmas trifecta! We heard there was another local option and were able to get an after-church appointment on Sunday afternoon, so we gave it a try. This “North Pole” did not disappoint.
K and I were both anticipating crocodile tears from this kid, so we were pleasantly surprised when he walked right up to Santa, gave him a big hello and climbed up in his lap. He promptly displayed his muscles and informed the big guy that he is a “stronger boy now.” It was pretty much all smiles.
When asked about their Christmas lists, they asked for a four-wheeler, a girl kitten and a four-wheeler. I’m just going to lay it all out there for you and say that’s a no, no and no. Sorry, kids.
We got lucky and they were able to take us about 30 minutes before our scheduled time and since there weren’t any kids waiting in line after us, we had plenty of time to chat with Mr. Claus. Because none of his treats were peanut-free (Hudson politely declined his offer), we opted for some bubble blowing time instead. There were lots of funny stories and giggles.
In case you don’t follow my sister on Instagram, she posted a hilarious video of Hudson and Santa. They were discussing his hat and glasses and Santa bopped him on the nose and asked if there was a horn in there. To which Hudson replied, “No there’s not, but there is some boogers in there!” I’m not sure complete strangers have ever laughed so hard.
Even though we were forced to buy those terrible photos with the borders (no, seriously… the photo quality was so bad and a complete waste of my $30), they didn’t mind you bringing your own camera in, too. The setup was so pretty and white and bright and not cartoony or silly looking, so it made for a pretty great photo op. After we moved on from Santa, the kids piled onto a nearby bench full of pretty pillows and furry throws and hammed it up for the camera for a few more minutes./p>
I mean, could these kids be any prettier if they tried?! This is my new favorite photo of my favorite little people. I think it should be framed and prominently displayed for all to see, right?
Pros: appointments, beautiful setup, sweetest Santa ever, bubbles, hot chocolate and plenty of time to hang out with our new best friend.
Cons: terrible photo quality and overpriced.
Dude, we’ll take it. Cheesy smile and all.
