If you are a magazine hoarder like me, you might have seen this issue of Celebrate when it hit newsstands early last month. Before starting her own photography business last fall, my sister Kamin was a photographer for Hoffman Media, a magazine publisher here in Birmingham. Ella has had the pleasure of modeling for her on several occasions, but Sophie was still a little tot and never got the chance. Until just after her birthday last year.
Kamin and Lucy, a stylist at Hoffman, came and spent the day with us, along with some of Sophie’s best buddies. They magically transformed the playroom into the CUTEST Valentine’s Day tea party and Sophie was center stage.
As if the party and the photography weren’t enough fun, our kitchen was quickly transformed and there were all kinds of yummy treats stacked on every flat surface. We ate cupcakes and yummy finger sandwiches for days.
While the magic makers were taking photos of the table setting and the recipes, I tried my best to keep this one occupied {and clean} while we waited on her friends to arrive. See that cardboard square over the window down there. I told you that new front door had been a long time coming!
These are the “behind the scenes” shots of my favorite photo from the magazine. When Sophie saw the real deal she said, “I didn’t even KNOW I was a rock star?!” It had been so long since we actually had the tea party, that she had forgotten her magazine debut!
It was so funny to watch these four girls together. They were so confused about the “pretend” tea party and it was hilarious trying to get a shot of them pretending to eat. They just wanted to dig into those cupcakes and quick. It took some time, but K and Lucy worked their magic and these girls finally got to enjoy their reward for such good behavior.
How adorable are they? I shared this photo on Instagram almost a year ago and now that the magazine is available, I can finally show you the rest. I think I had more fun watching them at their tea party than they did!
And in case you haven’t seen the latest issue of Celebrate Magazine, here are some of the shots you are missing!
