Are we close enough friends to talk about bras?! If not, you might want to click on over for today. I promise there are no photos of me wearing any (thank your lucky stars), but you might not want to hear me complain about how much I despise wearing one.
I have sort of a love/hate relationship with the chest. I never really had one until I started taking birth control and then HELLO. They showed up out of nowhere. Then, pregnancy and breastfeeding Ella really “boosted” my confidence a little more. And then, because every good thing must come to an end, I got pregnant a second time and it was all down hill from there. I joke with Josh almost every year that I’m going to take our tax refund and run to the nearest plastic surgeon, but I’m not sure I’ll ever feel comfortable spending that kind of money on myself.
I’m not even kidding you when I say that six months ago, I sort of abandoned the search for the perfect bra, I mean it. I was so over being uncomfortable and spending money on tons of bras that didn’t fit. I hate being professionally fitted and doted over at a department or specialty store. I was done. I started wearing sports bras with the skinny adjustable straps. Every. Day. Was it the most flattering look in the world? Notsomuch. But for $5 a pop and all day comfort, I was sold.
The folks at True & Co. reached out to me a few weeks ago about trying some of their bras and since I had nothing to lose (and no real bras in my drawer at the moment), I decided it was worth a try! I think we’ve established that I love being able to try on new things in the comfort of my own home (StitchFix, anyone?). Well, True & Co. works much the same way. Sure, you can shop and place an order just like any other site if you want. The thing I like about their company, though, is that you can choose their “Home Try-On Program” to try it before you buy it.
They have a fit quiz to help you determine what size to buy first. It starts with the size you “think” you wear and then asks a bunch of questions to determine just how well that is really working for you. I’ll admit it was a bit depressing when they recommended a size down from what I was already wearing, but you can order them in several sizes if you want.
Not only do you get to pick three bras to try on, but… You can see the prices, so there are no surprises when your box comes in the mail. There are tons of bras (and matching panties, and loungewear!) to choose from. You pick three bras to try from your personally curated store AND they select two additional “expert picks” based on your fit quiz. How cool is that?!
You aren’t charged anything to place an order (although they do put a temporary charge on your card to verify its validity), they offer free shipping and you only pay for what you keep! Need more reasons to try it out? Taz + Belly, along with True & Co., are offering $15 off your first order and $15 off for every friend you send their way! When you sign up, you’ll see this screen with a way to share via email, facebook or referral link.
Want to see what I tried? I decided to go with their size recommendation and see how they fit. And since they were adorable, I went ahead and ordered matching undies just in case I decided to keep anything. The expert picks are a secret until your box arrives.
As much I wanted to keep everything they sent, I was pleasantly surprised to find out their size recommendation was wrong. Maybe my size wasn’t wrong after all — just the bras I was choosing. I wasn’t out any money and as soon as I boxed up what I didn’t want, I was able to go ahead and place another order! Unlike an exchange, I didn’t have to wait around for them to credit my account, I just placed a second order with new selections and it was on my doorstep a few days later. Thankfully the second box fit much better and I picked several pretty things to keep.
I never thought I’d be blogging about bras, but this was seriously the best shopping experience I’ve had in awhile. I’ve already made a believer out of my work-wife, so what do you have to lose? Click here to sign up, fill out your fit quiz and a few days from now you’ll get a box of pretties, discreetly delivered to your door. Be sure to choose Home Try On as your method of shopping and you’ll have five days to decide what to keep and what to send back.
I received no compensation in exchange for this blog post, but will earn a referral fee for each person who signs up to try True & Co. All opinions are my own. If you love True & Co. as much as I do, share it with your friends and earn credits to shop on their site!
