This has been one busy week. Between work and church and home and just life, I am exhausted. My to do list is longer than the hours in the day and I’m feeling a little overwhelmed.
ONE I hate to start off with the same topic as last week’s post, but it’s relevant. My morning routine is going really well. I’ve managed to get up *almost* on time every day this week and it is certainly helping me in the organizational realm. My alarm has been going off at 4:30 and I’ve been rolling out of bed after reading Jesus Calling at around 5 o’clock. My goal for next week is to be out of bed by 4:45. I sort of flip flopped my schedule this week and I’ve been starting the coffee and then getting ready first and reading my Bible and doing chores after I’m ready to walk out the door. It seems to me that I can get more squeezed into those hours this way, but it could all be in my head! Once I catch up on housework and paperwork this weekend, I’m hoping to devote 30 minutes each morning to keeping things organized — calendaring, paying bills, prepping dinner — anything that I can do in the morning that won’t cut into my afternoons with the girls. Do you have any suggestions?
TWO Let’s’ talk food. If you are a regular reader, then you know we ventured into the clean-eating neighborhood back in January. My husband is doing much better than me, but the fact that I’m eating multiple servings of broccoli a week is a testament in itself. I grew up on white bread and macaroni & cheese, so there’s a bit of learning curve. I have two lovely little tidbits to share that might help you eat a little cleaner, too!
Have you heard about Zaycon? If not, you really need to visit and read all about this fabulous company and how they will change your grocery buying habits. Essentially, you sign up to receive notifications about “meat events” in your area, purchase farm fresh meats in bulk on-line and pick them up in your neighborhood when they drive through! The meats are far fresher than what you can get at the supermarket and the chicken is ONE QUARTER of the price at Publix. You’re welcome. We bought 1 box (40 lbs) of chicken last month and they are hands down, the largest chicken breasts I’ve ever encountered. I”ll have a button in the sidebar soon, but you can click this referral link to be redirected to their site. For every friend who purchases Zaycon using your referral code, you get $1 off your next order. Sweet.
Also, I’ve been spending $12 on the tiniest package of almond flour ever at the grocery store. Then my friend, Amy, pointed out that Bob’s Red Mill products could be found at Big Lots of all places?! Imagine my surprise when I stopped by on Monday afternoon and loaded up on wheat free bread mixes along with two boxes of Enjoy Life cookies all for $21. SOLD.THREE // Do you follow Stitch Fix on Instagram? Ummm, imagine my surprise on Wednesday morning when I was scrolling through my feed and saw MY PHOTO under their name?! I was super flattered and couldn’t wait to gush. They shared a photo of the arrow bracelet from my last fix. How cool is that?
FOUR // For Valentine’s Day, we bought each of the girls a little treat. It was probably more than one should spend on the day — I usually get them a chocolate treat of some kind — but I couldn’t resist. Sophie has been in full-on Elsa mode since before Christmas, so we got her a new dress-up dress, but for Ella we got this sleeping bag. She was having a sleep-over at her dance studio last weekend and I knew she would need something cute to carry along. I got the bag at Academy for under $20 and that same sweet friend, Amy {buy all the cute things from her here}, hooked me up with a massive monogram. When I showed it to Ella she said, “OH MY GOSH, I love it. And I’m not just saying that like I do when you buy me clothes!!” Duly noted.
FIVE // Okay, here’s the biggie. The blog is about to get a pretty major overhaul, complete with a new name and a new URL. There I said it. I have been toying around with the idea for months and just kept coming back to it. My goal as a “blogger” was always to document the lives of my children for as long as they will let me and after that, who knows what this space will look like. There is a part of me that regrets choosing a blog name centered around my children because the older they get, the less I’m inclined to share. Let’s face it, toddlers provide ample blogging material. Elementary age children? Notsomuch. And my first grader is private and easily embarrassed and I have to think carefully about what I share. I’ve been doing my research and I’m hoping to make the transition as smooth as possible. LPD will probably remain as is for several months after the initial transition, just to make sure I’ve gotten all of the kinks worked out. I’m hoping that a redirect will keep all of the old post links and pins working, but we won’t know until we try it! I’ll give all six of you reading plenty of notice before the big switch and keep my fingers crossed that you don’t get lost in transition. Please don’t leave me… I live for your daily validation!
Are any of you inherently turned off by blog name/site switcharoos? Anything I can do to make things easier on you?
Well, that’s it, friends. We have a weekend filled with baby showers, extra dance practices, housework and church nursery. Doesn’t that sound exciting? I hope yours is equally fun and we’ll chat recipes on Monday.
