This is my second full week back at work since the holidays / the great flu of 2014 and I am feeling it! Not only am I thrilled that it’s Friday and time to enjoy the weekend, but I am loving that we have Monday at home, too. I have crazy big plans for the long weekend… like cleaning house and packing up the remainder of our Christmas decor, but I’m hoping we can squeeze in a movie date with the girls and a few new recipes that I want to try. What’s on tap for your weekend?I’m linking up with Darci today for 5 on Friday, so here’s what’s on my mind!
ONE // I had such a fun little graphic design project to work on this week. It’s a super-hero birthday party for a five year old boy and it turned out adorable. The mom was super creative and pieced together a bunch of different design aspects she liked from invites she found on Pinterest and I did my very best to translate her ideas into a finished design. This isn’t the final version she chose for the party, but it was my favorite so I thought I’d share! How cute are those wrap-around return address labels?
TWO // I got a box in the mail from Stitch Fix on Wednesday and it was GOOD. I had ordered one back in November for my birthday and it was kind of a bust. I had planned to blog about it anyway, but none of the items fit well enough for me to show off and the others were completely not my style. I’m taking responsibility for the gaffe because I requested something that I was interested in, but I wasn’t specific enough and led my stylist astray. Luckily, Jodi made up for it this month and hit it out of the park! I ended up keeping the entire box and I’ve already worn all five items. I’m going to blog about each of the items on Monday, but here is a sneak peek of what I’m wearing today for #stitchfixfriday.
THREE // Have you heard of The Fresh 20? I mentioned last week in my “resolution” post that I was thinking about trying eMeals out for a month to see what we thought. Josh & I did a really great job of meal planning for dinner this week, but I’m hoping to be better about lunches, too. I really wanted some fresh new recipes that fall as close to the clean-eating category as possible and I’ve been debating on what service to use. My blog friend, Andie, texted me last week to tell me all about The Fresh 20 and it sounds SO good! It’s only $18 for a 3 month subscription and they send you 5 recipes a week using fresh, clean ingredients. They even have meals-for-one, vegetarian and gluten-free options! We’re planning to start in a few weeks and I’ll be sure to blog all about it.
FOUR // I know I’ve mentioned Influenster before, but I have I said how much I love it? Essentially, they send you boxes of fun items to try in exchange for a review and some social network sharing. Our first box was full of Suave hair products for the whole family and it was such a big hit. In December, they sent us this Braun temporal thermometer and I was super excited to try it. But there was one problem, nobody in our house was sick?! I was contemplating how in the world we were supposed to use and review a product that we didn’t really need at the moment. Well, cue the foreshadowing because then Josh & I both got introduced to the flu. We laughed that first night we were sick because we seriously took turns using the thermometer every hour and could not get over how awesome it was. We’ve had a temporal thermometer before, but it wasn’t super reliable and not only does this one give an accurate temperature, but I think it’s much easier to use. If you are still sticking something under your tongue (or, ahem, in other conspicuous places), I suggest giving this one a try!
{I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.}
FIVE // I told you a few weeks ago that we saw Frozen in the theater the Monday before Christmas. Prior to that moment I would have told you that The Lion King was hands-down my favorite Disney movie ever. Y’all, I kind of feel like I’m cheating on Simba because we fell in love with this movie (Josh keeps calling me blasphemous for ranking it so high). It is definitely my favorite since we’ve had kids and I sobbed like a baby at the end! When the girls went back to dance last week, the studio had bought the soundtrack and they cannot stop talking about the music. I’ve seen everybody and their brother blog and share on Instagram about the soundtrack, so last night in the drive-thru of Little Caesar’s after leaving the dance studio, I drank the “Frozen” Kool-Aid and downloaded it myself. My children sang ALL THE SONGS all the way home. Ella said that “Let It Go” made her want to cry and she was willing to sing it loud in front of anybody who would listen. And we may or may not have watched the movie after dinner on a less than reputable website. You can visit me in prison. Don’t judge.
