Am I the only one who thinks having Halloween on a weeknight is an AWFUL idea?! And while we’re talking about inconveniences, who said it could rain on an outdoor holiday?
It would happen that I had a horrible day at work and nothing would cooperate – people, computers – you name it and it malfunctioned. We were planning to go to a local Trunk or Treat at 4:30 in the afternoon and it takes me an hour to commute. I sped out the door at 2:30 and managed to get my girlies all suited up in time to take a few photos before the rain came through.
This girl. I swear that no pictures exist where she is just casually smiling at the camera. It is either a pout or a full-on, squinty, cheesy face. And this is one of the many reasons I love her to bits. She is so feisty and was in LOVE with her Izzy costume. She, of course, had a last minute dilemma about how she should have just been the Warner Sister Dot or maybe even a pink owl, but we managed to make Izzy work with promises of a pink owl next year (YES!).
Ella decided awhile ago that she was going to be a cowgirl this year. I figured that was big girl enough and easy enough to pull off with what we had around the house. Then my sister bought her this adorable color-block dress from Gap Kids a few weeks ago and Ella almost had a coronary. She would have nothing but to wear this dress for Halloween. She decided to be a rock star, which mostly means she wore a cute dress, dangly earrings (that her daddy refuses any other day of the year), loads of makeup and a microphone. How’s that for seven years old?
We couldn’t have a holiday celebration without our brother-cousin, so K brought Hudson by for a few photos before we headed out to trick or treat. His daddy had a football game, so they tagged along with us for his first Halloween. How is it even possible that at four months old he’s the only one I can get to look at the camera?
We were so worried about the weather and our Trunk or Treat didn’t start until later in the evening, so we went to a local church in the afternoon just in case we couldn’t make it any farther. It was so much fun and really close to our house. Of course, we were thrilled to run into some of our favorite people and Izzy even managed a photo op with Jake himself!
Let’s ignore Sweet Daddy’s heinous hat and focus on his pretty face and brother-cousin instead. Mmmmkay?
We followed up our adventure with a yummy dinner at our favorite local restaurant (complete with waitresses in costume – ours was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle), a 45 minute wait to get into our Trunk or Treat and zero pictures to show for it, trick or treating at a few of our favorite people’s homes and MAJOR candy indulging for dessert. We hope your Halloween was as sweet as ours!
