THIS Friday I’m sleeping in. And eating breakfast at IHOP with the kiddos. And picking out our Christmas tree under the big striped tent. And hopefully getting started on our holiday decorations, wrapping some gifts, listening to some Christmas tunes and drinking an excessive amount of hot chocolate. You?
ONE: Well, we managed to take our family photos last Saturday with only a little drama. You know, as little as can be expected when posing in the middle of the street with two uncooperative children, a bored daddy and one elderly dog. Did I mention that a local police officer stopped by? I realized after I got dressed that I completely hated the outfit I posted here last week. It didn’t translate well in real life, despite the fact that it looked glorious in my head. Thankfully, I had a new blouse that worked well with my purple jeans and we were out the door with a few minutes to spare. This beauty is from my camera, so I know that the real thing will be so much better. I can’t wait to share the full shoot!
TWO: Speaking of elderly dogs, this chick is a mess. She lays in this chair all the time, like she’s the lady of the manor. She’s irritable and obstinate and will be 11 years old in March. We brought her home nine months into our marriage and she was definitely our first baby. She’s been demoted a few times since then, but we love her dearly and she’s such an important part of our family. I’m not sure how we will function when there isn’t a coat of dog hair on ALL. THE. THINGS.
THREE: I had a dentist appointment on Monday morning for a routine cleaning, but I had been having a little tooth ache for a few days. I actually didn’t have an appointment at all, I stole my dad’s appointment and really threw the dentist’s office for a loop when I showed up. Note to self: don’t rearrange their schedule without permission. But, I digress. They (thankfully and very graciously) went ahead and cleaned my teeth and as expected, a filling I’ve had since I was sixteen needed to be replaced. I had to go back to the dentist again on Tuesday afternoon to have it replaced and I was feeling (and looking) fantastic afterwards. I had to endure the grocery store and was mortified when I had to speak with the cashier because only half of my face was working. I laughed at myself while trying to take this picture because I was smiling as hard as I could and this was all I could come up with! I had planned to cook taco salad for dinner, but just thinking about tortilla chips made my mouth hurt. Instead, Taz & I made a late-night, emergency run to Panera Bread for macaroni & cheese and bear claws. Yes, please.
FOUR: Speaking of Taz, this girl is just too much. Ella has gotten a little break from the blog world recently because she avoids being photographed and/or requests that I not share embarrassing photographs of her (like being at Subway in her pajamas – which obviously doesn’t phase Taz as you can see from her pj photo-op in Panera). Sophie, on the other hand, lives to be the center of attention and would love for you to tell everyone how “cilarious” she really is. The kid is obsessed with layers and socks and especially leg warmers. These striped ones are for INFANTS, but despite their size, she insists on wearing them. I remember this day because when Josh got her ready for school, they were hiding under her pajama pants! Imagine my surprise when later that morning I got this photo from “school”. She kept them on under her clothes and when she got hot, she just ditched her pants!
FIVE: Tomorrow is the big game! Everybody in this state is a little super-charged and you’re almost afraid to express your excitement for fear of rebuttal. If you live in Alabama, you know it’s really like this all year long, so you’re kind of used to it. I wish we were headed to Auburn for the weekend, but we’ve got Thanksgiving round two tomorrow, so we’ll be cheering on our team from home. I hope we’re still smiling this hard in another 36 hours or so. Happy weekend, bloggy friends!
