Longest. Week. Ever. Last weekend was such a blur — we went from event to event for three solid days. Even though it was filled with tons of great family time, there wasn’t much time for napping involved. And let’s be honest, naps are part of why I love the weekends! Josh is headed to Kentucky for the Bama game today (can you say jealous wife?!) and I’m envisioning lots of movies, laundry, football and napping on the horizon. Okay, enough of that, let’s get on with 5 on Friday!
1. Scandal. I did it. I bit the bullet on Friday night and watched episode one. Taz fell asleep at the football game and I had a few hours to myself with nothing to do. I signed up for Netflix (Hulu only offers the current season?!) and by the time Josh got home from the game, I was on episode three. I’m almost embarrassed to tell you how many episodes I’ve watched in the last seven days, but by the time Thursday rolls around I ought to be completely caught up!
2. A giveaway. I talked about the YakPak giveaway last Friday and completely meant to announce a winner on Monday. Well, Monday was terrible and then the week just got away from me. So we’re announcing it today instead! Tamar, email me your mailing address and a fun new item from YakPak is headed your way.
3. The Lumineers. I’ve laughed at how many times someone has told me this summer that Josh & I are cool. Ummm, completely not true. We are old, married and boring! It just so happens that Alabama has had a bevy of fantastic bands touring this summer and I’ve been able to see three of my favorite artists, one of them twice! Before this year, I hadn’t seen a concert since I was pregnant with Taz and the last one before that was a few weeks after Bells was born. I was long overdue. I headed to Tuscaloosa after work on Wednesday with my sister and several of my good friends to see the Lumineers. We had a yummy pasta dinner at DePalma’s and then headed over to the amphitheater. The show was general admission and we were in a perfect spot. I added a t-shirt to my collection and the high-light of the evening was when the band came out into the crowd for a song. We had such a great time!
4. It’s finally soup season! Admittedly, I’m not really a soup person. I do love potato soup, though, and the restaurant across from my office makes the best. I’ve been itching for cooler weather and could finally justify soup and a grilled cheese for lunch one day last week. It was so good that I decided to make this for dinner on Tuesday night. Josh & I scraped the bottom of our bowls. Speaking of soup, while I was at the concert on Wednesday, my girls were participating in a mission’s project at our church. I hated to miss it (we bought our concert tickets way back in the spring), but our Sweet Daddy jumped right in to help. The Mission Friends and Mission Kids classes have been bringing canned veggies to church for several weeks and last night they served vegetable soup and collected donations for world hunger. Sophie has been so excited about the soup dinner and insisted on wearing her chef’s hat and apron to serve. How adorable is it that her friend Camden was all suited up, too?
5. It’s time for another style challenge, don’t you think? I had so much fun linking up & Instagramming (is that even a word?) with good friends way back in the spring for the #pinstyle13 challenge and I’ve been thinking about reviving it ever since. Andie and I talked over the summer and decided to try a little something different this fall, so the 20×20 Style Challenge was born. We’ll be choosing 20 items from our closets to remix for the 20 week-days during the month November. Spread the word and we’ll be sharing details on what to do and how to link up in a few more weeks!
