I’ve been reading — and enjoying — everyone else’s 5 on Friday posts, so I figured it was high-time I joined in the fun. Why not, right?
1. Mumford & Sons. Need I say more? I had kind of gotten out of the concert circuit a bit, you know since I was a grown-up, responsible parent and all. Of course, I’ve seen my boyfriend (a.k.a. John Mayer) any time he’s in the tri-state area, but that doesn’t really count. I’m required to see him. It’s a thing. Anyhoo, Josh is not a concert goer, but he is a HUGE Mumford fan. We bought tickets way back in the spring for the New Orleans show and were super, duper sad when it got rescheduled for September. Fast forward three months and they decided to come to our sleepy little town, so we sold the NOLA tickets and partied a little closer to home. The show was Monday night and it was amazing. Hands down, best concert I’ve been to. Ever. We were those crazy people who squealed and yelled at the band and danced a little too hard and we were actually sore the next morning?! Marcus Mumford is a genius and his banter with the audience was crazy good. And they INVITED A RANDOM DUDE ONSTAGE to sing Sweet Home Alabama since they’d never performed it and didn’t know the words. A random dude was on the stage with the Mumford?! They called it Karaoke with Mumford. Josh was screaming that it should have been him. He really wanted to rock the tambourine!!
yes, Josh is a wearing a Wolf Pack t-shirt and YES, I was barefoot.
outside in a sand chair after the show, let’s not dwell on it ;).
2. Oh, the Life Planner. It’s been a long time since my last planner ran out of months and I just hadn’t felt like spending the money to replace it just yet. I’ve been relying on a cheapie for the summer and I am well over it, I tell you. I finally bit the bullet and ordered a brand, spanking, new life planner and it is on it’s way into my grubby little hands. I got this Party Pops design instead of using a photo this year and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. Seven days and counting.
3. Wanna talk graphic design? I sort of took a little hiatus from designer-y things this summer, with the exception of my girls’ party invites. I was kind of in a design funk and just wasn’t really in the mood to be creative. I was more in the mood to be lazy and eat donuts and complain about running. I finally got over myself and I’m open for business again. I redesigned the blog and sought some fresh inspiration and now I’m cranking out some pretty cute things, if I do say so myself!
4. I really did mean to run #50milesinseptember this month, but today is the 13th and I’ve run exactly 3.2. I went to Tuscaloosa last weekend and ran a 5k with my cousin Jessica and her mom. This the second year The Color Run has come to T-town during our bye week and it’s always so much fun! I remember feeling very un-runner like last summer, too, so I know this will pass. Once the humidity isn’t 300% every. single. day. and I can run around the block without breaking out in a disgusting sweat, I’ll be back on my feet again. Half-marathon training starts in 17 days, so Mother Nature needs to take note. I’m requesting 42* and sunny skies. Think we can bank on that for October in Alabama? Highly unlikely.
5. Aren’t you glad it’s football season? I’m always sad that we don’t have season tickets anymore and this year we’ll probably go to fewer games than we have in a long time. Of course, opening weekend was full of chevron shorts and houndstooth hats and yummy, yummy game day snacks. We grilled out with our favorite football friends and cheered on the Tide. We won (even if it wasn’t pretty) so everyone went to bed with a smile on their face and wore their smocked Alabama dresses to church the next day just in case anybody forgot we won. Our sweet daddy drove to Texas last night for the A&M game tomorrow and this momma is JEALOUS. I love going to away games (okay, I’ve only been to one, but it was a doozy) with Josh and I’m completely green with envy that this was a man trip. That does not mean the girls & I won’t be wearing our crimson and shaking shakers from home. Roll Tide, y’all.
I’m completely embarrassed that I fell of the “dailies” posts the latter part of this year (although I did play catch up this morning and posted/backdated the last four weeks!). I love sharing what we’ve been up to each week, since the little details don’t always get blogged about. Maybe I’ll hijack the 5 on Friday posts and use them for my little weekly update instead. What do you think? Isn’t this far more interesting that hearing about each and every day? Have a great weekend, friends!
