Day two was a VERY light photography day. We essentially repeated ourselves and spent another day in Magic Kingdom. We were only there until early afternoon so that we could get a nice long nap in that afternoon. We rode a hand-full of rides we missed on the first day and let the girls have an encore on all of their favorites from the first day.
We started out by grabbing a fastpass for Space Mountain and then rode the Jungle Cruise while we waited on things to warm up a bit. The captains on the cruise are always pretty cheesy and witty, but the girls enjoyed all of the fake animals and it was a nice relaxing way to start the day. Especially considering the stress that laid out ahead.
We told Ella that she didn’t have to ride anything she didn’t want to except for Space Mountain. She is a scaredy-cat and I knew roller coasters wouldn’t really be her thing, but I really wanted her to tough it out and try just once. Josh isn’t really a fan either, so he took Sophie for an adventure while my parents and the big girls waited in line.
It wasn’t until after an almost hour waiting that I remembered something very important about SM. You sit one to a row. Up until that point, Ella had been pretty calm, but once she saw the car she started to panic. There was no backing out and we did the best we could under the circumstances. We put her between me and Poppy and we held hands over the seats. She squealed a little and you can see she kept her head down, but since you’re in the dark the entire ride, she didn’t miss much. She’ll tell you she enjoyed it (she didn’t cry or get sick), but she refused to ride it again all week!
While we were riding roller coasters, Daddy & SK were meeting all of her favorite characters right around the corner. He was a bit indulgent, it seems, because she was wearing a $40 Rapunzel hat when we found them!
The big girls wanted to see those characters, too, so SK got to do a second round. We saw Goofy, Daisy, Minnie and Pluto.
THEN, out of nowhere, we spotted Jake from the Disney Jr. show Jake and the Neverland Pirates! Sophie is a HUGE fan, so she stood in line all by herself and gave Jake lots of love. There was even some “Yo Ho Ho – ing” between the two.
We ended the day in Magic Kingdom waiting in a long line to ride the Astro-Orbiter in Tomorrowland. Sophie was excited about riding a rocketship, but Ella was a little freaked out. I think SM really did a number on her that morning. AO is pretty similar to Dumbo’s Flight, but it’s on top of another building, so height is a huge factor. You can see much of Magic Kingdom from there and Ella isn’t a huge fan of heights. She rode with me this time and we didn’t engage our rocket in too many acrobatics!
Finally, we had a yummy lunch in the food-court next door and headed back to our resort for a long nap. We ordered pizza for dinner, the girls went for a “swim” in our massive bathtub and we all went to bed early since day three was going to be a long one.
