Okay, so I’m aware it’s almost March and I still have a few Christmas decorations up. I know… it’s embarrassing. This year has already flown by and I can’t seem to keep up. I never posted about my New Year’s reVolutions for 2013 and I still haven’t finished sharing about our trip to Disney World. I finally sat down this weekend and went through all of the photographs I’ve taken this year to see what all you’ve been missing out on and there was quite a bit! I actually wrote a “blog calendar” list on a giant post-it note and stuck it to my computer. I’m not sure that will really be effective, but it’s certainly worth a shot!
Ella’s 100th day of school // What Sophie looks like most days
I’m currently sitting at my computer and listening to the following things… the dog scratching at the front door to get in, Ella’s Power Rangers marathon in the living room, SK is squealing from our bedroom (while watching Backyardigans) about her strawberry yogurt, the oven is lighting in the kitchen because I’m getting ready to make pigs in a blanket, the coffee pot is gurgling with my first pot of coffee in weeks and the Lumineers are playing on my iPhone.
I gave up Dr. Pepper for lent and as a family we gave up fast food. In case you see me at Chipotle or find us in line at Subway, those places don’t count. We gave up greasy burger/chicken joints in an effort to eat better and save some money this month. I know that I’ll replace my IV of fizzy goodness on March 31, but I’m hoping to be completely turned off to fast food by then. I did break down after the race last weekend and have a massive DP before bed. I was craving calories and couldn’t stand it and then somebody told me that Sundays don’t even count during lent. What the what? I am going to make it a point not to indulge every Sunday, but at least I know I didn’t completely sabotage myself.
My hair is disgusting. It is longer than it’s been since I was a freshman in high-school and it skimmed my waist line. One the one hand I love that I can have a massive fun bun on the top of my head and that I can curl it with a wand and it looks really pretty, but I know it is just a mess of dead ends and crispy hair. Thank goodness when I style it, it doesn’t look as scary. I have got to schedule a haircut very soon or people are going to stop speaking to me.
I’m contemplating what my fitness goals look like now that I’ve accomplished the completion of a half-marathon. I plan to run two more this year, but there are some other things I want to do. I’ve agreed to do P90x with my husband, even though I know it is going to reduce the number of miles I can run in a week. I can’t decide how I feel about that, but I need to tone up a little bit. I’m still the same size I was last summer when I shared the before/after post and subsequent pictures, but I want to work on my belly this year. We might even do Insanity again closer to summer.
Remember how we talked about going to Europe this summer? We are still toying around with that idea, but after getting numbers from the travel agent I’m a little wary. I don’t want to spend an absurd amount of money on a vacation when there are other things we could do with that money, but I really want to see Stonehenge (again) and stand on the beaches of France with my husband. We are toying around with Costa Rica instead, but I can’t decide if I’ll regret the alternative or if we’ll have so much fun that I won’t care.
I ordered my 13.1 sticker last night. They were free at the race expo last weekend and I completely forgot to grab one. By race day the half stickers were gone and I couldn’t bring myself to go into the running shop this week just to buy a sticker. I ordered a tiny pink one from etsy and I can’t wait to see it on my car.
Let’s pause while I put my breakfast in the oven.
Did I tell you that Josh & I have tickets to see Jerry Seinfeld live this month? That’s one of those tickets that we don’t miss, no matter the date or the price. We’ve seen him twice before and even though both shows were the same, we laughed at every joke. SD is slightly obsessed with Seinfeld – both the sitcom and the man. He texted me at work back in December to tell me he was going to be here on Good Friday and when I texted him back I had tickets in hand. I can’t wait to get dressed up, eat some good food and laugh until I cry. That is one funny man.
Next weekend SD is headed out for a bachelor party with his brother (who is getting married in three weeks?!?!) and I’ll be enjoying a girls’ night out with NO CHILDREN. Not to mention that I’ll get to sleep late the next morning. I’ll be honest, that might be the part I’m looking forward to the most.
I know I’ve told you this before, but I read an insane amount. On top of what I’m reading for my Bible Study groups (Applause of Heaven, Interrupted, The Husband Project and Forgotten God), I probably download 3 or 4 books a week on my Kindle app. I know that sounds absurd and you think I’m ignoring everyone around me to read, but that’s really not true. I read in the mornings while I eat breakfast and the rest of my house is sleeping, I read at lunch or while I’m waiting on appointments and I read after the girls are tucked into bed at night. Thankfully, SD reads a lot, too. He doesn’t get frustrated with me while I indulge and most nights he convinces me to rub on him while I’m doing it, so it’s a win-win. We saw an internet meme earlier in the week that said, “I’m just going to read a few pages of my book. Translation: I’m going to read at least 100 pages. Leave me alone, I’ll see you when I see you.” We laughed because that is appropriate for both of us. Thank goodness for Amazon’s free books.
Okay, now that I’ve gushed every single thing that’s on my mind, I’ll wrap this up. My breakfast is almost ready and I think I’ll browse Pinterest while I wait on Josh to get back from his workout. We have no plans this weekend and I’m looking forward to blogging, some graphic design projects, DVR and lots of cooking. On tap for the blog next week: Poppy’s 60th Birthday Surprise, a Circus recap, Ella’s art show at school and of course, Dailies and Fitness Friday. The Disney photos are almost completely uploaded so the week after we’ll devote seven full days to a detailed Disney wrap up.
I hope your weekend is as wonderfully uneventful as mine!
