So, it’s seven days into 2013 and I’m finally making waves on the interwebs again. The last three weeks have been insane and let’s face it, I was a terrible blogger last year. Because of our fabulous Christmas surprise, I haven’t yet posted our 2012 recap or even begun to think about sharing how our Christmas went down. Let’s just say it’s going to be a Merry January around here! There are about a hundred photos from our Christmas celebrations to edit and upload and closer to a thousand from the happiest place on earth. It looks like I’m going to be a busy blogger this month.
One thing I did love about 2012 was posting weekly snapshots via Instagram. Although this steals my thunder a little and gives you previews of full posts to come, I have really enjoyed going back through and seeing what we were up to on a daily basis. I started pretty strong and even though I missed a few days here and there and failed to post the last several weeks of the year, I took well over 300 “dailies”. In an effort to keep up the momentum, I’m going to do a post of dailies each week this year and TRY REALLY HARD not to skip a day. Here is what the first week of January brought to our little family.
1/365: It was New Year’s Day and we were exhausted from staying out all night. We opted to sleep in, play around in our pjs, read and watch cartoons most of the day. We headed out after dark to grab a Happy Meal from McDonald’s and then watched Fantasmic in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. 2/365: This sweet face was in our bed after the big girls were fast asleep and I couldn’t resist a quick snap. I could seriously eat my child most days.
3/365: Our last day in the parks I decided to sport some Minnie Mouse ears of my own. We had dinner with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy & Pluto. I didn’t share an #ootd post everyday, but I did have a few cute outfits up my sleeve. 4/365: We endured a 9+ hour drive home with a two year old, but managed not to pull all of our hair out. She was awake for almost the entire drive, but when she decided to take a nap, Josh & I watched/listened to a movie on her DVD player. How stylish are those headphones? 5/365: After reading almost the entire morning (the girls went to visit their Nana), I decided to lace up and take my first run of the new year. I was slow and I had to walk about three quarters of a mile overall (this was my first run in over a month?!), but I managed to squeeze in 7.5 miles in an hour and a half. It was hard, but I know that I’ll be able to complete the half-marathon I’ve registered for next month!
6/365: I was feeling a little nostalgic and whipped out my Doc Marten’s for church on Sunday afternoon. These were my first “pricey” purchase as a teenager – I spent almost a hundred dollars on them the day after Thanksgiving when I was 15. I was at the mall with my first real boyfriend and had been lusting after them for months. My parents were not thrilled, but I wore them religiously for the next three years… to school and church with dresses, shorts or whatever else I deemed (in)appropriate. They are over 18 years old and still look pretty good! I’m going to grab new shoelaces this week and peruse Pinterest to see what other outfits they might look good with. 7/365: Today is the big game and since I can’t exactly wear a jersey to work I opted for red/white/black and my new elephant necklace instead. I picked her up for $14 at the World Showcase in Disney’s Epcot Center last week.
