I hate to admit it, but I’m a bit of a voyeur sometimes. I’m not snooping around in your medicine cabinet or anything, but I’d like to see the inside of your house and I’m curious about where you work. Does that make me weird? I was playing around with the panoramic function on my phone this week and thought these pictures of my office were pretty funny (and it’s rarely this clean). Then, on the off-chance you’re as weird as I am, I thought I’d share them and show you what I see every day. And just so you know, any paperwork that’s in view has been more than sufficiently blurred or otherwise obscured to protect the innocent!
1. It’s hard to see, but I have a burlap bulletin board across from my desk. I covered an old one I found in my closet and added some nailhead trim. It’s perfect for family photos and elementary school art projects.
2. I have quite a few framed photos on my desk that I love, but they could all stand a little update. The green planter holds gold paper clips that I don’t share with my co-workers. Sorry!
3. A stack of magazines waiting to be read: the RH catalog, Parents and last month’s Runner’s World. On top is my half-marathon training schedule that I mark off 3-4 days a week after running on my lunch break.
4. An Alabama memo pad, a few red markers and my favorite EOS lip balm, Summer Fruit.
5. This desk calendar is THE best. You can find a similar one here at Paper Source (the desk calendar is sold out). Each month has a new color scheme on the kraft paper background and there is plenty of writing space in the margins.
6. A few black in/out boxes (that are hard to see in this light) and some glass jars to hold rubber bands, gold binder clips, colored paper clips, more lipgloss, various post-it pads and a few important papers that I’m currently dealing with.
7. It might be hard to tell, but next to those bookcases are a big stack of Christmas gifts that Santa and a certain un-named Mouse delivered to my office last week. So very exciting. The bookcases house numerous binders of in-progress projects, as well as boxes and boxes and boxes of files.
8. That is a large sweet tea that I get several times a week. There is a Wall Street Deli across the street from my office and they have the BEST tea I’ve ever had. Hands down, not even kidding.
9. That’s my view. I used to work in the building on the far left and the far right. It was pretty dreary the day I took the pictures, but the view usually makes for a nice distraction.
10. I have an extra monitor on my desk so that I can have my email in view at all times while I’m working on other projects. It also comes in handy for reviewing and comparing documents on an almost daily basis.
11. My new laptop, which I love, with Photoshop on display. I was editing photographs for a project at work.
12. My stack of notepads that save my life on a daily basis. I’m a bit obsessed with steno pads. I keep up with time spent on projects, as well as to-do lists and details about what I’m working on. There is always a highlighter, black pen, red pen and red marker close at hand. They all have a particular function depending on what I’m doing. When not taking panoramic photographs, my iPhone is usually also in this stack.
13. My favorite Tervis tumbler is in the windowsill and it’s usually full of ice water. I was too busy sucking down tea this day, though. There is also a paper cup back there left-over from a trip to the gym late last week.
Do you think I’m certifiable now? I only wish I could keep my house as clean and organized as I do my office. I’m be in much better shape at home!
