So this post should’ve gone up yesterday, but everything about Monday was a bust. My car wouldn’t start, so I rode to Ella’s program at school with Josh and assumed we’d get everything in working order when we got back. We had thirty minutes between her assembly and her lunch, so we flew home to jump my car off and so that Josh could get back to work. He got a teleconference call as we pulled into the drive and didn’t get to worry with my car right away. I ended up driving his truck back to the elementary school and having lunch with my girl. When I got home he told me that he couldn’t get it cranked, so I was stranded at home. Let me interject that I am sick as a dog and that I had a HUGE project at work due yesterday. I had planned to be in the office by noon and work late until it was complete. Instead, I doped myself up on meds, curled into bed and had someone from the office forward me all the files I needed to work. I futzed with a spreadsheet from 11:30 yesterday morning until 10:30 last night with barely a breath in between. When I was finally able to throw myself into bed, I started coughing. Uncontrollably. The last time I looked at the clock it was 2:05. Let’s just say that 5:15 came early. THEN, I sat in traffic for more than an hour and a half this morning. A quick lunch-break post is the best that I could do today.
10/21: We had a beautiful afternoon at the park celebrating a birthday and then SK & I hit up the grocery store on the way home. Lucky for her it was samples day and she got popcorn and biscoff cookies for the ride.
10/22: My only run for the week was a two miler on the treadmill. Thankfully, my training plan has a few rest weeks built in over the course of the next several months. I should’ve run four more on Saturday, but it just didn’t happen. Oh well, mileage is back up this week!
10/23 & 10/24: I completely bailed on pictures. I would lay in bed at night thinking about how I didn’t take a single one, but I couldn’t bring myself to get up and do anything about it. This week has been exhausting and we’re just trying to survive.
10/25: Thursday night was Ella’s Halloween party at dance. I have some pretty spectacular pictures and videos to share of that later in the week. She made sure to snuggle up to Brooke for a photo op!
10/26: After bath on Friday night, I spotted this little nekky girl in the play room with her dollies. She loves to line them all up and give them a bottle. Even if sometimes it’s a bottle of soy sauce from the toy kitchen.
10/27: This is the stack of books beside my bed. I’m half-way through World War Z and it is really good, but I’m having to read it slow and in bits and pieces. It reads more like a documentary than a story, so it’s a good one to pick up every once in awhile. The Red Tent is my favorite book ever and I’m going to re-read it soon. I borrowed it the first two times I read it, so I finally broke down and bought my own copy. I checked Kisses from Katie out of the church library and I’m hoping to read it this weekend while SD cheers on the Tide in Baton Rouge.
We’ve also managed to paint our pumpkins (that we bought at the grocery store) instead of carving this year. I don’t know what happened, but October seriously left me in the dust. I am vowing to catch up on the months this weekend — I’m going to decorate for Thanksgiving and pretend that I didn’t completely ignore Halloween. We didn’t even make it to the patch this year!
On tap for this week: Halloween trunk or treating at our church and my grandmother’s church tomorrow afternoon, our last varsity home game of the regular season on Thursday (hello cheese-fries, goodbye every bit of cash I have), a baby shower on Friday with my two little ones and birthday parties galore this weekend. We’ll be flying solo without our sweet daddy, but we have lots of fun things planned to pass the time.
Posts on tap for this week: Lily’s first birthday in the park, Ella’s Halloween party at dance, our pumpkin painting party and a Halloween costume reveal. I’m also working on a few updates to the girls’ room that I hope to share in the next few weeks!
And thanks for all of the sweet blog comments, facebook posts and emails after Friday’s post. It makes a me proud to be your friend.
