10/14: Enjoying Cracker Barrel for dinner after our terribly lazy Sunday. Sophie loves playing the peg game and SD & Ella worked all of the puzzles in the menu. 10/15: I didn’t take a single picture, but we FINALLY got DirecTV installed and I’m happy to say The Walking Dead has been watched in this house.
10/16: I went into work a minute late so I could take the girls to school and one of the benefits was seeing this precious face.
10/17: My mid-week, long run — five miles at 12 minutes or under on my lunch break. Thank goodness for locker room showers!
10/18: Josh has had this Pearl Jam song on the brain for the last few days and wouldn’t stop singing/humming it. I finally broke down and listened to the whole album on my way home from work. Then I realized that it came out my senior year of high school and that made me feel old. I saw them live the summer before I started college. Gah.
10/19: I got these super cute shoes for a steal thanks to an online coupon code and a heads up from this blogger. They’re my new favs.
10/20: We had a family football day at my uncle’s barn.
I am a sucker for a lazy weekend and this one was a perfect example. Friday night the varsity football game was out of town, so we picked up take-out and had a family home night instead.
On Saturday morning, I did my long run for the week and managed to make it EIGHT FLIPPING MILES. I had been so worried that it would be hard since my calves have been cramping so much, but it went so well. I won’t say it was easy, because running for an hour and half cannot possibly be classified as easy, but it was good. I ran the entire time and my legs never got tired or crampy. I actually felt like I could keep going, but I was too hungry. I’m going to have to start fueling pre-run on Saturday. I’m starting to feel like my goal of the half-marathon is achievable. I know that 11:30 – 12 minute miles is ridiculously slow, but at this point, I’m just trying to sustain a consistent pace for the entire run. I figure I’ll have the endurance worked out by the end of the year and still have six weeks to work on my speed. Whew. After my run, I made two yummy cheese balls and we spent the day watching football with family and friends at my uncle’s barn — which he lovingly refers to as the Swamp Donkey Lodge. We were outside, with a fire, good food and a big screen TV. What is better than that? Oh yeah, when Bama wins ;).
Yesterday we had a great morning at worship and then we were off to a birthday party at a beautiful park in Leeds. I took lots of pictures as we celebrated with Lily, so I’ll be sure to share those later in the week. Ella spent the night with Gran & Poppy, so SK & I bought groceries on the way home. We lucked up and it was samples day at the market and Sophie was in heaven! She had popcorn and cookies and then snagged her very own “chatstick” since she’s obsessed with lipstick these days.
We also secured Halloween costumes this weekend and they are presh. I went the easy route this year, but I’m still pretty pleased. Sophie has been begging to put her “Palloween” on and says she’ll “wear it forever.” We’ll see!
