I’m thinking about doing my P365 posts a little different for the remainder of the year. I don’t love to blog on the weekends and I have a hard time remembering to post them on Sundays (like I still need to go back and post last week’s photos!) and it’s hard to schedule them ahead of time since the photos aren’t even complete until sometime on Saturday. I’m thinking a Monday weekly/weekend recap might be in order.
10/8: I made a quick run to Krispy Kreme before church on Sunday morning. Everyone thought it was a big deal that I drove twenty minutes in the opposite direction before church, but they are so much better when they’re fresh! We had breakfast in Bible study and our oven was on the fritz. What’s a girl to do? 10/9: Ella had her first official kindergarten field trip. They spent the day at a local pumpkin patch and got to ride on the bus for the first time. She didn’t want her daddy & I to come, but thank goodness her teacher sent me this super cute snapshot in the middle of the day.
10/10: I told you I was downloading this album on Tuesday and it is so good. 10/11: I broke down and registered for the Mercedes half-marathon in February. I’ve been training since the first of October, but knew I needed to do something definite to get/keep me motivated.
10/12: I had my first “long” run and decided to ditch the treadmill and go outside. The weather has been beautiful here and finally not 95 degrees. I just changed at the gym, mapped out my run and hit the sidewalk. Thankfully I didn’t see anyone from my office until I after I showered off. I saw this sign at mile 3 of 5 and it was just the pick-me-up I needed.
10/13: The only picture I “took” on Friday was a screenshot of a funny text I sent to my friend, Leila. There were horses out in our neighborhood before work and it was hilarious! They had no riders and were all over the road having a wonderful time. Since that picture isn’t nearly as cute, here is one from the football game Thursday night. SK loves her Jojo.
10/14: Yet another long run was on the calendar for Saturday. I mapped out some country roads and set out for an hour and a half of jogging. I took those seven miles VERY slow (about 12:30 per mile), but there were lots of steep hills and I’ve never even considered running that far before. I made it with only two 5 minute walks, but I was utterly exhausted when I got back and headed straight for an ice bath.
Our weekend was such a good one. Seriously, one of those that you just don’t want to end. We didn’t do anything particularly special, it was just restful and stress free and everyone was happy. The girls wanted to spend the night with their Nana on Friday night, so Josh & I took the opportunity to get cleaned up and head into town all alone! We went to Carrabba’s for dinner (of course) and I cleaned my plate of Chicken Bryan. I swear I could eat a vat of goat cheese every single day. So good. We went to the movies and saw Looper, which was also really good. The previews didn’t do it justice and it wasn’t at all what I expected. We stopped at a gas station at 11 o’clock for a Big Gulp of DP and stayed up late watching nothing on TV. Saturday morning we slept late and a little after 9 o’clock, I headed out for the long run. I ran from the rock house to my parents’ house and back, which is a little over seven miles. I had to walk a few hills in the beginning, but the second half of the run was so much easier than the first. Of course, I passed every person I knew because that’s what happens in a small town; I got plenty of waves. I was harassed by numerous barking dogs, got moo’d at by a few cows and almost wet my pants before I realized that the snake I saw was already dead. I literally stumbled into the house when I finished, but I was too proud of myself to complain. I treated myself with Burger King and a pedicure/foot massage when I finally recovered enough to take a shower and leave the house. We spent the rest of the day watching football at my in-laws and letting the girls run around outside. We managed to sleep late yesterday and completely miss church and as much as I hated missing fellowship with our church family, we never even took our pajamas off until it was time for dinner! We were lazy and watched football and movies and all piled in the bed together. We decided late in the day to have Cracker Barrel for dinner and go grocery shopping, but that was the only time I even left the bedroom except to fix the girls some lunch! I really needed a weekend like that.
I also managed to read three books between Friday and today. I know… ridiculous. They were young adult (very clean) fiction, a little on the juvenile side, but really good nonetheless. If you loved Twilight (they aren’t nearly as good) or are a supernatural fiction fan, you might want to try them. The Significance Series by Shelly Crane — Significance / Accordance / Defiance / Independence (available in December). Super cute and really quick reads. I seem to be a magnet for series that aren’t complete yet, though. I hate the waiting.
In other news, we discovered late Saturday night that Dish Network no longer carries AMC and I was distraught. If you are facebook friends with me, then you know I basically complained about it on the interwebs all weekend long. I am a huge Walking Dead fan and we were not happy. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anywhere for us to watch it last night, so we’re stuck being clueless until we can catch a replay later in the week. Josh spent almost an hour on the phone with Directv yesterday afternoon (with a fellow WD fan) and we will be switching over today. I’m sad to lose my jam-packed DVR (goodbye free Twilight movies), but I’m looking forward to zombies and Netflix.
Anybody have Directv and love/hate it?
What about The Walking Dead? Do you watch it? IT IS SO GOOD.
Have YOU read any good books lately? I read way too much, but I just can’t stop myself.
Discuss.
