I know I’ve said this about a hundred times, but I am seriously blessed to have such a talented photographer as my sister. Obviously, I love her for a million other reasons, but she is so good to me and takes pictures of my girls pretty much whenever I ask. Her summer mini-sessions this year were perfect timing and I decided to use my spot for Sophie’s two-year-old photo shoot. We threw in a few sister pictures, but Ella will get her very own shoot in the fall as a SIX year old. Seriously? How did she get so big? I digress.
I usually do smocked dresses or elaborate get-ups, but this year we did simple. My mom made Sophie these precious wide-leg chambray pants and I picked up the white, lace top at Target. The gingham bow was a “going out of business sale” find several years ago for Ella. Our pictures were bright and early and I’m impressed that Sophie was in such a great mood.
At two, Sophie is hilarious. She has really come into her own this last 6 weeks and talks up a storm! She is witty and funny and sneaky. When she’s in trouble she gets the cutest grin on her face and I swear if you think you can discipline her after that, just come on over! She says “you” instead of “your” and it’s by far, my favorite. “I sleep in you bed, Mommy.” “I hold you hand.” “That you shoes?” Precious, I tell you. She fake cries and fake sleeps and both are side-splitting. She sleeps in Ella’s bed every Wednesday (while she’s at Gran’s) and has only gotten up once. It was about 10 minutes after I put her down and she said “I waked up!” I think we’ll be moving her into a big girl bed very soon. Sigh. She LOVES her milk and won’t even try to drink anything else. She does occasionally sneak a drink of mommy’s DP and grins every time. She doesn’t eat much meat and wants “oatmilk” or a breakfast bar for breakfast everyday. She’s a fish and will probably be swimming by the end of the summer. She doesn’t run, she gallops. It’s quirky and fits her personality so well. She still has a love / hate relationship with the dog, but she’s trying. We started potty training about 10 days ago and we are almost done! She hasn’t had an accident in several days and she’s woken up dry 3 out of the last 4 mornings. I will not miss diapers at all.
This has been such a fun few months. Two and a quarter is the perfect age. She’s testing the limits, but not too much. She’ll play independently, but she stills needs her mommy. These pictures capture her little personality so well. I cannot wait to see what the next six months hold for her!
